some good stuff here on special needs
which may be of use.
http://www.masterypublications.com/Special_Needs.htm
In which the mastering math lady put her experience teaching special needs down in article format.
I have no idea, whether this is useful info or not, as I've not coped with a special needs child and their learning challenges other than ds had ADHD and later turned into ADD.
That seems relatively minor in comparison.
Hope this is a help for anyone coping with some added challenges.

the above link focused on math, and here is another of the links I've saved, with someone who focuses on teaching reading to special needs.
Here's the description: We teach 4 to 40 year olds to love reading in Dr. Fuller's phonic Ball-Stick-Bird reading series.
For 30 years we've given literacy to all - including those diagnosed as learning disabled, dyslexic or intellectually challenged. Besides We're hilarious!

and she explains how her system differs in this article here which I liked. http://www.ballstickbird.com/diffbsb.html
I'm all for hilarious learning. Makes life easier on the mother.
I thought the ideas behind the system made sense whether you are teaching special needs or not.
Maybe this might help someone tutoring a child or adult with reading difficulty.
