What is your favorite
curriculum if you use one and or other materials that have been helpful homeschooling your children.
A little about our girls.
I have two daughters homeschooling grades 5 and 7, our oldest is a sophmore in a catholic highschool.
Thank you!

I like Saxon math. It's got small enough lessons to not be overwhelming.
I also like Rosetta Stone for foreign language.
And I like the Sonlight readers, for the most part.2012 Knitting in progress

I haven't been homeschooling long enough to know if my favorites are 'valid.'
I really haven't experienced much curriculum.
Our first year, we used Spelling Workout and some old CLP math workbooks. SW was okay, but dd hated the math.
The next year, we tried Miquon math - which is an interesting program, but SUCKS if your kid has become math-phobic. She really hated that. We also used FIAR, which was nice.
During that year, it became apparent that my older dd is academically advanced. FIAR was sort of boring to her & I was getting burned out from the planning.
So this year we are using Sonlight with both girls. I do like it. I really like curriculum that is literature based, since I have unschooling tendancies. It just feels so relaxed and easy-going for the kids. We spend a lot of time just sitting together reading. The older daughter is using a Grade 1 math workbook with big colorful pictures - she likes it. My younger daughter is burning through Horizons K and she loves it.
I don't use any language arts curriculum. Reading, writing & spelling happen in real life for us. My kids learn pretty easily.
I would definitely recommend Sonlight. It's a comprehensive curriculum. It offers as much or as little structure as you want to have. They have a lot of information on line and in their catalog. It's not right for everybody, but we like it.
