EducationSchool aged children, frugal college students, and adults returning to college discussions. Public, private, and parochial school topics. Teaching-learning resources. Fun activities.
I am going to post this here on the off chance that someone is in my area and also to get any advice that you can offer. I homeschool my kids and my oldest especially is very interested in sports. Myself and a couple other families are interested in forming a sports league of our own for the homeschoolers, private and public schools kids. I am in Ironton, OH (southern Ohio) and we also want to involve the Ashland, KY and Huntington, WV areas. We have opened it up to all ages, K-12, and boys and girls. If you are in this area and interested, are involved in a program like this, or have started a sports league like this please contact me. aimeekettel1975@hotmail.com
If you are a member of HSLDA, why not post it on their site too, as it will surely get to the local homeschoolers.
Local association newsletters are also a good option if you have a good one in the area, because that gets your target audience fast. Some groups are more closed off and fearful of "losing" members so some won't be amenable to competition which is why I mention HSLDA as that gets out to most hmsclrs.
Another idea is posting a notice on a big sign up sheet at the local curriculum fairs that always seem to happen about now. Conventions, used curriculum swap meets also.
All the best-- it works great. We had a roller rink day and practically the whole city's worth of homeschoolers used to come out for that once a month on a Friday. We booked it and jammed it with homeschool kids and mums. Great time had by all.
I have posted around on the internet and I'm going to put flyers up and send them out to churches and that kind of thing too. I was here this morning and thought I'd take a shot here. What could it hurt? I applied for the free trail to the legal defense so when that goes through I'll post there also.
