Homemade lacing cards
A neat alternative to buying lacing cards is making them out of vinyl placemats. There are tons available that are so inexpensive. Just punch some holes into it with a hole punch. Can use yarn or shoelaces to lace them up.

At school, we use old cereal boxes and cut them into any shape we want and punch holes in them. We usually use yarn. Make sure to wrap the end with a little bit of tape and it will not come undone and it is also easier to thread.
