I love to homeschool because
- you can take a day off when you want.
- you can use the curriculum you wish to use.
- you can use different curriculum for different subjects.
- you can do all unit studies if you wish
- you can start your day and end it when you feel like it
- you have one on one with your kids
- if you feel like cuddling and reading a good story you can
- the negative experiences come much later in life.
- you can teach them your values and beliefts
Why do you love to homeschool?

I have an aunt in Texas who homeschools her kids. She says another advantage to homeschooling is hands on learning. She would take them on multiple field trips, and involve them in groups like 4H. I think it's great for kids and a great way to keep strong bonds with them.

We can pray, PRAY PRAY anytime and do. That my children are learning our values, not the teachers or school's.
They can focus on their interests.
We can keep studying something they dont' get, till they do.
The kisses during the day.
Not hearing only a couple of sentences on how 8 hours went in their life, I know it all.

We can sleep late, lol.
Dd has plenty of study time and she can keep going over things until she understands them.
There's no pressure to hurry up.
We know who her friends are and what she does with her time.
We can take a day off if we need to.
If dd is sick she can still watch the school videos or catch up when she feels better and not get behind like she would in a school.
There are no bullies or peer pressure here.
We can teach dd the values and morals and religious beliefs that we have, not what a teacher believes or the school system thinks is right. We know what dd is learning.
We can go to the park in the middle of the day or for a picnic, etc.
We can go on vacation whenever we want.
We can work on dd's weak spots.
We get to have lots of laughs, hugs, one-to-one talks, family time, etc.

Mine are now graduated from homeschooling and working on their degrees but I sure agree with all the above.
For us it meant being able to spend time with their cousins going on a long fall hunting trip, dd going to Israel and England on a dance tour when she was 13, without us, with her ballet troupe and teacher.
it gave us flexibility. Flexibility in the following and more:
How we use our time
What we use for textbooks or learning
Teaching/learning methods (ended up sort of unschooling/units)
where we homeschool (out at the lake in nice weather)
HOW MUCH TIME on school
wow that last one is a biggy. Even in highschool a couple of hours a day can do it if you use a really relaxed method such as unschooling. The rest of the day, the interests they follow are part of the curriculum and it's still learning but it doesn't feel schoolish.
HOW to spend the homeschool money!
I stopped having to spend money on fundraisers, special lunch food that was cool, uniforms (or cool brands of clothes), special cool shoes etc.
My kids still dressed fine, ate well but that freed up dollars.
which I could then decide to spend on books
and spend we did.
We have a wonderful library at home now. It is one of the benefits of a few years at this. It's a marvellous resource now that they are in university. I often find them referring back to a good history book like the Dorling Kindersley visual time line I think it's called Illustrated World History
or Write Source 2000, or Writer's inc.
The other benefits:
My kids grew up, and matured a bit faster than their peers.
they became self starters, able to pace themselves and what is really important for university, able to crank out the writing, able to teach themselves out of any book, able to produce work.
It goes on.
best thing we ever did with them really.
