Potty training a boy

This weekend we are have just been putting Wesley in his big boy underpants. He asked me for a diaper and I said sorry I'm all out. So he's been wearing his underwear. So far, 4 accidents, 1 pee-pee in the potty. He has been crying and crying anytime that he wets his underpants because he doesn't wanna get the 'cool characters' wet. So I am basically banking on him getting frustrated with getting his underpants wet and start pottying.

I'm so glad to see this post. After three girls, I am new to potty training a boy as well. These are really great tips to have because I'm in the dark on this one. Thanks!

My DD was potty trained before she was 2. DS took longer. He didn't show any interest in potty training until he was almost 3. DH pretty much trained him. He started out on a little potty chair sitting and then progressed to standing. I don't think he was tall enough to pee standing until he was a little older.
