Finally had a GOOD day!
I can't believe we finally had a good day!
My friend Brenda had a VERY long talk with her grandson about being respectful, minding me, and general good behavior. Holly, molly, it worked!
He earned 19 points for his reward chart today!
We made brownies, where he read the recipe, his little sis got out all the ingredients and cracked the eggs, he then mixed them up.
Oh and you know how when you bake you HAVE to clean up? Even though Brenda has a dish washer, I um
asked for volunteer's for washing and drying the dishes! Little sis washed, I rinsed, older brother dryed, littlest brother (3) put them away!
He did get a little overbearing when Grandma came home, as they all did, but all in all, a GOOD day!~~ Dee ~~

That's great. Hope there are many more good days to come. Consistency is what kids need. Hopefully grandma will continue to be on the bandwagon.

That is great, Dee! I am glad your friend had a little chat with her son about respect. Better yet, I am glad he listened!!!

I think sometimes all it takes is a little (or big) reminder of how kids need to act! Whenever we visit anyone, my kids always get the same lecture about respecting and listening to the adults and following ALL the rules, even if they are different there than the rules we have at home!
Hope you have more good days like that one!

I'm so glad it worked for you! Sometimes they just need to know where you're coming from, and that you're not just 'the bad guy'.
There will be other trying times with him, but remember these kids are in a BIG transition, and haven't been raised well to start with (by their parents, not Brenda). Or probably lovingly. Such a tragedy. I applaud you for being a stable presence in their lives!

No thank you!
I don't think this old brain and body could handle any more kids. ROFL
Thanks everyone.
Yesterday the 2 oldest went with a friend of the family and her son to VBS. When they came back, they were ANGELS!
Then their mom showed up around 2:30 and all heck broke loose. Man I hate it when she is around, they revert right back to their bad behaviors immediately. It's like having totally different kids from 1 minute to the next.
I have to say in her defence she did back me up, but if she wasn't around it wouldn't happen to begin with. Oh well, we just keep plugging away and hope each day gets better.

I have this week off, the kids are going to daycare. Last weekend Brenda's nephew Pat watched them and they were BAD, BAD, BAD!!!! I even called Pat on Sunday and asked if the kids were behaving and he said yes! I would have been down there in a second if he had just said so.
I saw them tonight, I picked them up from daycare and had a *talk* with each of them. It won't be happening again! Pat is only 19 and not as forceful as I am. LOL All of them were in bed by 8:30 tonight, no more of this 9-10 or 11pm!!!! That is a load of crap as far as I am concerned. They all had black rings under their eyes from not enough sleep. Can you believe it, the little guy (3) gave me the biggest problem? I finally rocked him to sleep.
I wish I had the energy to do it full time, they would be different kids, by the time I was done.
