Ugh, why are some people so idiotic? FIRE MICHAEL SAVAGE!
I read CNN.com every time I sit down to my computer. I woke up this morning, logged on, and proceeded to read the title of one of the articles as "autism kids frauds, brats, radio host says". It's a video so I click the link to watch the video. The guy goes on and on about autistic kids in such a negative manner and it has every parent of an autistic child screaming for him to be fired. I understand that the first amendment is there to protect freedom of speech, and that the rest of the show was him talking about kids being overdiagnosed, but honestly this guy has upset a lot of people. The first amendment is not a moron protection amendment.
If anything, autistic kids aren't given the right diagnosis and that's one of being underdiagnosed. I'd like to see this guy have an autistic kid in his home that exceeds the negative scale with screaming, aggressive tendancies, etc and watch him change his tone.

I briefly read about that and the first thing that came to mind my was "where the hell does he come up with that stuff?" He has probably never had to deal with an Autistic child for any length of time. He's an idiot on the subject.

That's his schtick ~ he regularly says something moronic and gets all kinds of groups upset at him. He does it because he knows it'll get people talking about him...talking=ratings in his world. People will tune in to see what else he's going say.
I always feel bad for whatever group he's harranging. He'll have to live with the consequences of his rantings.Nancy

Didn't hear this rant of his but I can give you a little info.....
He has a Doctorate in Epidimelogy (sp) from the University of California at Berkeley, California.......
He gets onto a rant every once in a while about the crap that we here in the USA eat and how it all affects everything in your body and your health........He also gets pissed off because he thinks a lot of the medical community and the biotechs are a bunch of quacks taking advantage of people.
I am not sticking up for what he said in any way......

This is really a hurtful thing to say to so many people. Karma will get him in the end, just like it did Tom Cruise in his "no such thing as depression" rant.
{{{Hugs}}} to all who were hurt by this jerk's comments.

As the mother of two children on the autism spectrum, I can't print what I think about this man.
I wish my kids were just brats and it could all be solved by telling them to stop. Only someone who has never dealt with a child with autism would spew such nonsense.Lisa

"The first amendment is not a moron protection amendment."
Well, acutally it is. I think he's an idiot as well, but if everyone would just quit listening he would be out of job without having to restrict the first amendment.
The problem is everyone thinks someone else is a "moron". If we start restricting speech just because someone is an uninformed bigot then we will be in a world of hurt. Just check out Canada's Human Rights Comission... it started out as a well intentioned effort to restrict "hate speech" and now its kind of run amok.
I am vary wary to getting into the game of allowing goverment or the majority to decide which speech is "good" and which is "bad". Whenever I see that happen in other countries or in history, it always winds up the well meaning restrictors get censored themselves, sometimes rather brutally, and for some reason they are always surprised when it happens.
If defend the jerk's right to be offensive, I also insure my right to stand up and call him out on his offensive behavior.
If I censor the jerk then I do nothing but ensure my own eventual censoring as well.
