Default We've Got Poopy in the Potty!

I just had to share how excited we are around here! Julia is 20 months old, and for the past, oh about, 2 months, she's been all about the potty. We did not initiate this with her, she started it all on her own. (We think it's because there are 3 "big kids" who are 4 and 5 at daycare with her who all go potty on their own and she wants to do what the big kids do.) Anyway, every time she asks, we take her, but she never does anything. Then, last week, one night while she was in the tub, she said, "Potty Mommy?" So, I put her on and she started the usual chatter that she does on the potty, talking about dinner and Daddy and her cousins, etc. Then she stops, midsentence and says, "Julia tinkle," and she tinkled! So, dh and I clapped and made a big deal of it and she was so proud. So, 2 nights later, same thing while taking a bath. Of course, we know this is just the beginning, so we aren't getting our hopes up that this is the end of the diaper. However, a few nights ago, she had taken her bath, was in her jammies and was sitting on our bed with dh and I reading books before bedtime and she suddenly stood up and said, "Poopy, here!" So, dh scooped her up, took her to the bathroom, took about a minute to get her out of the footie pajamas she was wearing and set her on the toilet. She chatted for about 20 seconds, then her face got all red while she pushed, and then, viola...there it was! So, we were clapping for her and then she said, "Tinkle," and she peed! We were SO excited! So was she. Of course, she hasn't gone again since, but it's certainly a step in the right direction!

That is so cool! I wish my daughter would show some interest. She'll be 3 on the 31st.

Zachary will be 3 in a few weeks and is just coming around. He wore underwear without protesting or wanting a diaper yesterday. LOL
I think we're getting closer over here. I'm hopeful.

oops, I kind of unintentionally hijacked your post there.

Congrats on the progress. I think it's great she can tell you before she goes. It sounds like she is well on her way.

LOL! I laughed at the title of this post. Congrats on the progress. It's been 9 years since I potty trained someone, hopefully my last DD will go as well as the first 2.

I'm telling ya, the potty training thing is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

Congrats to both of you-won't be long till diapers are a thing of the past
