How to break the activity cycle?
What's a normal family activity?
Yep, serious question here.
DH and I were talking about stuff and he was like, "We could sell all the computers tomorrow and I wouldn't care." I was like, "What? How would we do stuff online then?"
We do spend more time with the kids lately. DH and I met online through an RPG and we've had gaming in our family since we've been together. Before I met him, if I wasn't online I was out partying or getting into trouble or spending money all the time. I'm not a reader and I'm not big into movies anymore. I don't even watch that much TV. I'm not crafty, I don't knit and I'm not good at alot of domestic activities unless it's on the computer. I don't spend as much time gaming as I used to anymore, but DH and I find ourselves being completely bored sometimes. It's getting colder outside and with money being tight, I have no idea what to do as far as being off the computer is concerned.
So what would be good for us? We're not big into board games either.

If you're all into gaming why not find some rpg board games like dungeons and dragons. There are other ones out there.
Something we do alot here is try to make codes and have the others try to solve them. Or we will do scavenger hunts in the house.
When we're really bored, we start dressing up the dogs. It's a hoot because they are such big dogs they wear real people clothes and they look so miserable....lol
I'm sure there will be alot of other better ideas but it's a start.

I think maybe you should just try new activities to see what you do like. Try doing something artistic.
Here is a couple of links to get you started: http://familyfun.go.com/

Why not change your mindset? Maybe find something you would like to do. My dsis wasn't a big reader but she finally tried it and has gotten hooked on several series of books. I'll try anything once. Take walks with the kids or runs, get a pet that requires some time, learn something new!

Between home improvement projects, housekeeping, gardens, both working full time, Em's swim lessons on Sunday a.m., DH music (guitar and keyboard) extended family responsibilities and social responsibilities, we have little down time. My suggestions, look into a local Y or community group, invite friends over for game night, think dvd games for a more tech friendly group. Our pasts sound very similiar, I am an aging party girl stuck in suburban motherhood, but there are ways to find family friendly fun- then every once in a while go out and get your rock and roll on. During the summer we do a lot of outdoor festivals with decent bands and drag the littles along with us, Em saw her first show before 6 mos old. Good luck.

We learned we couldn't live without our puter! Ours crashed on Sunday, we tried and tried to fix it and just couldn't. So last night we had to go buy one, I was pretty impressed...we went three days!

We all spend time on the computer, but it is actually pretty limited. We use it for work/business and some pleasure (I use it for FV and music downloads and DH and does fantasy football). So we spend only a bit of time on line each day.
Why don't you each pick an activity. It can be something you enjoy doing or something you've always wanted to do. Then you have to do his activity right along with him and he has to do your activity right along with you. It's a fun way to share interests. You may find some new interests!
