Diapers. Lots of moms to prefolds, you get get them for about $1-2 each. Lasts a long time, dries quickly too. 3 or 4 covers, I loved Mother Ease covers. You could rinse them and hang to dry and I rarely ever had a leak.

Sleepers - 5 or 6, so laundry doesn't need to be every day.

Diaper wipes, I used wash cloths or flannel cut into squares and hemmed.

Diaper rash cream, tube of nystatin for bad rashes(ask phamacist), it happens but is a $3 investment and saves a trip to the dr.

    Infant tylenol

Crib - mine never slept in it, they slept with me, extra sheets for those leaky or spituppy nights.

I liked a bouncy chair, but the baby carseat works for a place to sit.

Receiving blankets, I loved to get flannel and cut into perfect squares for easy swaddling.

As to breastfeeding? some babies will only have a bm every 2 or 3 days, others after every feeding or somewhere in between. never know. Each mom and babe combination is different.

I suggest trying Ebay or local thrift stores for clothes. Also, I am not a fan of clothes from Walmart as they shrink up very quickly and you get less use than out of say Carter's or te like. Better to invest in a few a wash a little more. If you have any near you Carter's and Osh Kosh have outlets with great deals. She could try Walmart (or a fabric store for flannel and fleece for baby blankets and burp cloths. That way she can make whatever size she wants and they really do not need to be "finished"off or anything as they will not fray. I agree to sign up for Nestle, Similac, Enfamil, Pampers, and Huggies as they send lots of coupons and samples. Also, tell her to tell the hospital that she will be Breastfeeding and bottle-feeding (if she plans on nursing) because you should always have formula on hand, and they tend to not gove ypu any of you are bf exclusiuvely. I bf both pf my oldest but my newest addition started weaning at 6 weeks (not sure why as I bf the other 2 a year or more with no trouble), but those samples go a long way as most of the companies send full-size cans of powder. Also, she can ask the pediatrician for some samples. Tell her to reach out to her local freecycle as there is always someone giving away something. I suggest not taking a second-hand carseat though for safety reasons.
