My 17 yo daughter does me proud....
Last Saturday night was my dd's Sweetheart dance. The boy she dates goes to another school, and he plays on the basketball team. They had a game that night , so he couldn't go to the dance. My dd wasn't going to go to the dance, but then the week before found out several friends were going to go. So her best friend fixed her up with her boyfriends' friend and another couple (the girl was Ab's friend also)...so basically blind date.....Ab's boyfriend was ok with her going....I told her I wasn't buying pictures cause we didnt know this kid....Anyway, they went to dinner, and then went to another friends house until the dance started....these 2 boys went outside for a little bit, and then came back in....Abbie said they smelled like pot, they left again to go to aconvienience store for a drink, and while they were gone, Ab text the kid and told him she was NOT going to the dance with him cause he had been smoking pot (these boys were from another school)....so he said can I have the ticket to get into the dance, she said, yeah, but you gotta pay me.... HE DID!!!! She sent me a text telling me all this, of course, freaking out, I said you'd better not be in a car with him, cause if he gets caught with it, you will be in trouble too...she had rode with someone else, i also figured they would be breathalyzing the kids but they didn't ....she didn't talk to him or acknowledge him at all at the dance.......I was so proud of her....She could've just went along with him but she didn't ....Thank God I didn't buy those pictures and she said the ones I took on my camera I could just delete.....Thank God I have a pretty good kid!!!!! Just had to brag a little.....

Good for her for sticking up for what she believes in. Sounds like you raised a smart, caring girl with a good head on her shoulders. Congrats mom.
Prom is right around the corner and I bet she'll have a much better time with her guy then she would have at this dance with a dude who couldn't even muster up as an imitation of a fill-in.

What a good kid, It is so nice to hear stories like this, it makes you feel good when you know your kids can make the right choices.
