In over my head????
Got a call from my state caseworker yesterday. There is a baby available that will probably be adoptable early next year. She's in the hospital with a broken femer-just like the baby we have now. Now I've been having a recurrent dream for the past few weeks that they were going to do this, so I'm kinda freaked out. I told them that I couldn't send Elida out when she's expected to go back to her mom in a few months, but I'm only licensed for 1 baby, they said if I switch the nursery into the bigger bedroom she can move in next week and I could have both! I said I needed to talk to dh, we went to visit her in the hospital today-she's 4 mos old and beautiful!! Dh said yes, and I'm gonna call the state and say yes on Monday. Have I lost my mind??? Two little girls, under the age of 18 mos!! Even for a few mos its going to be hard. Comments, suggestions, words of wisdom? Have I lost my mind jumping into this?

Well i think your the only one who can actually answer this, what do you think. Can YOU do two toddlers??? Is there a place for one to go if you decide you can't take both. Sorry but i think your the one who has to answer these questions. GOOD LUCK in what ever you choose.

I have complete confidence in you Jerseygirl! I was in your situation (not being able to have my own children) and I would have jumped at the chance.
From all of your posts, you sound like one of the most level headed people I've ever met. Just don't let the little things bother you. If you don't have a "guest ready" home (as the girls call it), who cares? I'm sure your home won't be dirty. Just think of all the joy they will bring into your lives and you can bring into thier's.
I say GO FOR IT!
Best wishes to you, your dh and the little ones.

I think it's wonderful that you want to help the children that you have. I don't think you're in over your head, though it may seem a bit overwhelming at first. Take a deep breath, and go for it! Those babies need you, and you even considering taking care of them makes you an
in my book.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do, and remember that we're here for you

I've started putting it all together, I pulled out the clothes that will fit the little one, I'll buy another crib on Monday, then switch rooms Monday night. I can have the state out on Tuesday to reinspect and I have a car seat for her. I'm in a little less of a panic now. I really think I can do it, the holidays are going to be rough, but I think if it''s meant to be it will all come together. Thanks girls, ---Kellie

I'm soooooo proud of you and dh! Just remember that life is never "normal" or what used to be, when you have a baby. Just go with flo and all will be well. Hugs, kiddo.

sounds wonderful and bless your kind heart. I found that my dd entertained my ds quite a bit and vice versa when she arrived.
My sister who has 6 kids and my friend with twins both said the same thing.
They tend to entertain each other even quite young.
Dd at 8 months would try to wake her big brother up, by chirping and gurgling and shaking her crib. It was fun to watch.
