Smile Did you have your children with or without pain medication?

The first one I had, I had an epidural and it was wonderful. The second one I had demirol and was in and out alot. I prefer the epidural, but they said I didn't get there in time. The last and final one was natural without meds. I remember it very vividly. I can still recall my oldest telling me before I left to the hospital to breath...phew, phew, phewwwww! He was too cute. I think he was 7. So, I took that pain and did as he said. I was proud of myself! But honestly the epidural was the better solution because I could rest while in labor. So, out of three, only one was "natural".

    How about you?

Demerol here too all three of them. No epi, that spinal tap scares me. I wouldn't have had them any other way. but i remember all that pain too. it has been years, i think they are wrong when they said oh you will not remember it after. what a crock!!!!!!!!

    Gosh, the memories!

The first (26 hours) I had with full strength pitocin and a doc that turned his pager off so he could have dinner with his family...I got an epi at 9 centimeters....the doc was a quack, the epi site still aches. He was later sued for malpractice in the death a mother.

The second one came in 45 minutes, I had a nice demeral drip and he stuck me repeatedly with a needle full of lydocaine or something to deaden the area, and I just prefered that to the epi and with moms fingernails digging into my arm during the hard labor, which was the only labor I had, I was quite happy with the experience.

I had nothing with ds 10 years ago, he came to fast. I tried a Demerol derivative with dd last January, but it just made me dizzy and more nauseous. I don't know what I'm going to do this time. I need to discuss it with my doctor though.

    I had nothing with either.
With the first I asked for tylenol but the dr said it was too late.
I think I had easy labor, the DR says my pain threshhold is amzingly high.Who knows

epi...dont know why anyone would go natural if they didnt have to....i was fully aware of everything going on and went through 13 hrs of labor before i was able to the epi so i know how painful it is and you couldnt pay me enough for me to go natural

I wanted to do it without meds... until it started to hurt. LOL
I had an Epidural... pushed for hours, then had a C-Section. The Epi was wonderful for the pain, but I did NOT like the helpless feeling after of not being able to move.

Same exact story here Sherry...was in labor for 22 hrs and then had C-section.

I had a planned C-section with my second dd, and they gave me a spinal for that. It was so painful when they gave it to me...they hit a nerve and sent the pain all the way from my toes to my head

After about 10 hours of labor they gave me something to speed up the contractions, now that was really fun, NOT! They finally decided to give me some demerol after I begged and pleaded for what felt like forever. I have a very low pain threshold and I could have cheerfully strangled that doctor. I only have the one dd so that was thankfully my only experience. Wow, an epi would have been wonderful.
