    Default Sick babies! Long rant.

    It has been a crazy week here.
    I throw a winter bazaar every year for my handicapped clients and it was scheduled for today, and naturally I run myself down and generally wind up with a cold.
    Weds I get a call from day care telling me Karla-4 month old- is congested and they are concerned about her breathing-I pick the girls up, leave Elida with my neighbor and go to the ER. We arrive at the ER at 4:45 pm, seen by a nurse then told to wait in a busy waiting room. Three hours of waiting, then sat in ER exam room, as I am causing a fuss (I believe security refferred to it as "terroristic threats") She was finally given a breathing treatment etc at 9 pm. We were there until 11-when they decided to admit her. It took until 1:30 a.m. to get her settled in a room, then they got mad that I had to leave! I had been up for 22 hours and had to get home for Elida, so dh could go to work.It was the hardest thing for me to do to leave this baby there, she was hospitalized for 2 months before coming to me and I promised her I would take good care of her, the last thing I needed was a nurse trying to make me feel worse.
    I go home, get about 3 hours of sleep and Elida wakes up with a fever. I have been looking for a private pedi to see the kids and finally found one, took Elida out in snow storm to have her seen. Now she's on meds, cranky etc, and I am hoping they will let me bring the baby home today. I feel so bad for both of them, and the control freak in me is in high gear not being in charge of this! Now I just hope Dh doesn't get sick, the babies are easier to deal with!

    Oh Kellie...I'm so sorry you had to go through all of this! My heart would break if I had to leave my kids at the hospital, so I can only imagine how you felt. I hope you all are feeling better soon {{{HUGS}}}

    Oh Kellie, I can't imagine anything worse than having a sick child. It sounds like you are doing everything possible. I hope they are both feeling better soon.

    Karla finally came home today-it was RSV, for some reason it seems to be effecting older babies this year-her roommate was 13 mos and had it. The antibiotics and decongestant seem to be helping Elida, they make her drowsy, so she's napping longer so (bright side) I was actually able to get a few things done today.I was able to reschedule the bazaar for this Friday, barring another snow storm, and my cold is on it's way out. We survived!!!

    I am glad things are getting better for you and I will keep you in my prayers. There is nothing more stressful than sick kids. I had 4 kids last winter all running 104-105 fevers and one had to go into the e room for chest xrays. I had one in the tub at all times and was exhausted. I know what it is like to have a child in the hospital and be torn to spend time with the other kids too. My 4th child was born with some breathing problems and was in nicu for a week and I hated to leave the hospital but I felt the guilt about my other small children that needed me at home too. (including one celebrating a birthday too). I have to say I was blessed with great nurses who urged me to go when I needed and promised to watch over my little one and did a great job. I have many ER horror stories too so don't feel bad about going crazy about their service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
