I feel all of your pain. Dd is 9 and I think we have an early puberty going on over here, as well. Emotions all over the place and just had to buy a few training bras. Body wash and a puff is a great idea! to all of the moms going through it!

I would also vote for splurging on the frou-frou personal hygeine items. Suave carries a line of body wash which sells for $1 in our local grocery store.

Is frugality more important than a happy, healthy, good smelling daughter?

If not, I would see if she wants to pick out her own smell of body wash. You can pick out some of the cheaper ones, and let her choose herself. Get a pump bottle that dispenses as much as is needed in one push, and use that from then on, refilling as necessary.

We started the guys out with crystal deoderant. And, it can be used on her feet too.

Here is one brand of it:

    Beak-1996, Toad-1998, and Q-1998

Poof away! I think using the shower gel/body wash can be very frugal since you only need a small amount. Even if it isn't "frugal" we all need those little things that make us feel special. Have her be very careful to rinse herself well since some soaps can irritate certain delicate areas.

Very important: Don't forget to have a radio (away from the water) in the bathroom so she can sing her heart out while she's Poofin'. We Divas love that.

    Smile

    update:

Little Miss washed her feet well that night she was so upset. The next day (yesterday) the boy didn't say anything about her feet stinking like he had been for the past few days.

Little Miss was super happy about that.

She loved her book and bath puffy. (Buddy, her older brother wonder why she had received a present and he had not)

She jumped right into the shower when it was time. I showed her how to lather up the bath puffy and all went well. It was a very suddy shower. All went well e xcept that she was a bit itchy after her shower. (If she continues to itch after her showers I 'll have to figure out why)

Hubby "caught" Little Miss with her light on and hour and a half after her lights out reading her Care & Keeping of You book. When I mentioned it this morning, she shared with me some things she had read. The book was definitely a good thing.

Have you tried the kids mouth washes. That worked for one of mine when going though that. He loved the one that shows you the "stuff" in the sink. Can't remember what the name was. I'll post it if I remember.

What bathroom would be complete without a battery operated radio in the bathroom. The one in our bathroom is the one I received as a present when I was her age.

Our DD is 17 and has always dealt with the smelly feet thing. No matter what she did her feet were AWFUL. I saw an episode of The Doctors where they recommended soaking your feet in a pan of black tea for 30 minutes a day for a week, then gradually decreasing it to help get rid of the smelly feet problem. We tried it with DD and it works.

Here is a small exert from that episode:
    Smelly Feet
Heidi, 36, is embarrassed by her foot odor, which she says smells like a horrible mixture of rotten eggs and nacho cheese. Dr. Sears performs a smell test and agrees that her feet are indeed pretty stinky. He explains that foot odor is caused by bacteria and suggests that Heidi soak her feet in a tub of black tea for 30 minutes every day for a week. The tannic acid in the tea kills bacteria and closes the sweat pores in the foot. To demonstrate, Dr. Sears sets up a soak for her, and by the end of the show, Heidi notices a marked improvement and kicks up her heels!

For the itching: could her body wash be too strong for her? Can you dilute some into another bottle to see if that helps or perhaps find a diff brand for sensitive skin or made for children/teens?

Little girls, so sweet and you never know who is going to show up. My daughter is 14 and she has the foot issue. Her feet sweat a lot and the tea soaking does work. I also make sure she wears different shoes each day and not the same ones over and over. A boy at school threw corn at her one day in lunch for no particular reason and now we take a little joy in watching him walk to school as we drive by and say there's corn boy. One thing that I noticed as my daughter has been enduring puberty is that she is very forgetful and absentminded. Usually for a week out of the month and then it goes away. Keep the lines of communication open with your daughter and it makes it all so much easier. I could never talk to my Mom and I am very happy that my daughter tells me everything.

It is recommended that you not wear the same pair of shoes two days in a row. Hubby and I both have VERY sweaty feet. Hubby has TWO pair of good quality work boots and he alternates days wearing them. That is so they have time to completely dry and air out.

    Good Luck!

She has sensitive skin like her mother and so we didn't switch soaps. So it is the soap she was suppose to be using all a long. I'm making sure she is rinsing well right now if that doesn't work will try other soaps/washes. Maybe that is why she didn't use the soap she could maybe it itched. Definitely worth investigating.

Disclaimer: my experience with bath "puffies" is to throw them into the sink to get them out of the way when I take my manly shower. Having said that, could she be using too much force on the puffy or could the puffy be too hard, causing little micro-abrasions that are causing the itching?

    very good thought
    I'll have to investigate that
