do you pay attention to the ratings on you childrens games?

Thanksgiving we went to the ILs well on their computer they have some of DAHs games. these are all rated M my children even though they are 13 and 9 are allowed to play E and Kids and that is all they are allowed to play. My SIL had a fit to think they were not allowed to play Mature games. *she lets her 5 year old play them.* I prefer that my children don't see all the violence. Do you pay attention to the ratings??

Yes, dd isn't allowed to play mature games and we even ban a lot of the teen rated games. I don't feel like she needs to play super violent or s*x-oriented games. To me a game should be fun, not killing or maiming or gutts and blood or looking at half-naked women. I'm pretty sticky on what dd watches on tv too.

Absolutely! I hate games with too much s*x or violence. They grow up fast enough as it is!

We absolutely are strict about this and about what tv shows they are allowed to watch. I turn the station on some questionable commercials even.

Thanks guys for letting me know i am not alone. I feel it sometimes. but when we had a sample game and one of them from japan was throwing cats at walls, i decided it was way to violent. I don't think they need to do things like that!!!!!!!!! I am so glad i am not over board with this stuff.
