Default what age will you let your child drive?

Keiko is almost 16 and here in montana you have to be 15 to get a license. I decided i didn't think she was quite mature enough to drive yet. *I have also decided she can't drive my mustang when she does drive.* then again i don't think anyone under 30 should drive a mustang, there is just something about them. I know that if i am in the van i can drive like a normal person but behind the wheel of a mustang no matter the year you have to see what it can do. LOL i am so bad. that teal streak that went flying by was me. HAHAHAHA
So what about you and age to drive, do you think teenagers should have hot cars.

My dd turned 15 in July and will be taking Driver's Ed over the Christmas break. I am a little scared but I think she will do ok. She won't be allowed to drive alone for 6 months (that is the law) and then I am not sure if I will let her drive to school next year or not. There are 2700 plus students that go to her high school and they are ALL crazy drivers!! I see them every day when I go to pick her up!!

My oldest was 17 we didn't feel he was mature enough to drive at the time, his driving will still give you grey hairs and he's now 22. My dau was 16 and she did pretty well except for the lead in her foot.
My youngest just turned 16 and could have had his DL a year ago but both dh &
I feel he's not yet responsible enough. So I'm not sure what age he will be. I've told all my kids driving is a privilege, not something they are owed and since I have to sign a legal document that I'm responsible for them, I won't take that lightly and neither should they. I've got to much to loose If they choose to be stupid. So they need to show us that they are ready before we will consent to allow them to drive.

The driving age here is 17, so most kids can handle it responsibly, I think. It depends on the kid.

Hey Heaven-I had a Mustang when I was 17! Do you have a problem with that??? ROFL!

For now I say as soon as she's eligible (learner's permit at 16 and license at 16 1/2), but it may depend on their level of maturity and how responsible they are when they reach that age.

DS was 15 in February and was taking driver's ed. at that time. As soon as he finished the course in May, he got his license. He has his own car, a little red Nissan 240sx, and thus far has been very responsible. I trust him completely.

I will judge that by how responsible my children are when they hit that age. I really don't know what the age is in colorado, I have been here for five years and never inquired. In michigan when I got my license drivers ed was at fifteen. Full license at sixteen but if you got a ticket your license was pulled for a year. In the late 90's they changed it to restrictive driving priviledges during certain hours. I figure if I am available to play chauffer why get a license? I am not paying for a car or insurance,( I had to work and pay for my own) and my Ds can do the same. But why work when you don't have too? I would rather he spend his time taking classes, hiking, and hanging out then working to pay for a car.

Next year my oldest will be 15 and can take driver's education. I can't wait for him to be allowed to drive, so he can run to the store for me and take his brothers to school.

A kid can drive at 16 here with a license and no adult. However I don't know if I ever want my child driving around Denver.

I was 15 when I got my learning permit and 16 when I borrowed the car to get my license.

I think the States should set up something similar to what Canada has..most of their kids don't start driving until 18 or later. Due to the drivers ed classes and such
