What do you think about kids clothes nowadays. I'm finding them more and more adultish with short short skirts, tops that are cut low, long skirts with slits up the side, etc, etc.
Boys clothing isn't quite as bad other than having some pretty obnoxious t-shirts.
I want my kids to be dressed like kids while they are kids.
This is an area of discussion I feel really strongly about. I am in stores shopping for my newborn and there are clothes with glitter and feathers! I am sorry but crop tops and halter tops are not acceptable imo for toddlers. I am horrified by the styles of clothing for young girls. I am scared to death to see what will be popular when my daughter gets to grade school.

Whew, I thought it was only me that thought this way. I'm so glad we homeschool because I don't have to worry about dd wanting the clothes the kids are wearing.
But I'm seeing little girls strut around like the models do on tv.
I'm also making more and more of her clothes, which she loves!!
I have a 13 year old dd and the clothes in the stores just make me shudder. I want my daughter to be a nice respectable young lady not a prostitute. I just hope the clothing styles change to something decent and lady-like very soon. I have to search really hard to find decent clothes for her, I refuse to have my daughter's chest hanging out for the world to see or her cheeks peeking out of those low-rider jeans. Oops, sorry, I hopped on my soapbox again!
Oh my! I was only discussing this with my mother a few days ago!
I live in the UK so it must be worldwide! We were saying how you can only buy adult clothes for kids now and we have seen kids of 4 and 5 walking round in mini skirts and heels!
I saw a T-Shirt the other day for a 1 year old on the high street with 'Porn Star' on it!!! I mean what person in their right mind would let a child wear that? And we wonder why we have problems!
There is also a T-Shirt Web Site that sells the MOST offensive T-Shirts I have ever seen (for Kids and adults!)
Anyway I have a DD that thinks she's a boy - She has never and won't wear skirts at all (although we do comprimise on girly trousers if there is such a thing BUT she also doesn't like pink!) And she has a crew cut hair style!!!!!!!! (With long bits at the front, sides and back - At MY insistance!
She did have her ears pierced as a very small baby (another post as well) I guess that's grown up, which some people don't agree with (all my kids have pierced ears - even the boys!) But she won't wear ear rings at all now, as apparently that's something GIRLS do! Duh?
Sara, and ladies I'm with you. I was out shopping the other day too and had to pass the infant department. I saw a top for an infant that was black, only covered one should with the other shoulder had a spaghetti strap. I was in shock, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was also quite disgusted.
My niece Heather will be 10 on Saturday and she dresses like a "normal" little girl. Nice dresses, jeans, t-shirts and sweaters (jumpers for you heavensent_7! ) My other niece Jilleen will be 13 or 14 on Jan 1 and she is starting her rebellion stage. She hates her mother etc.... She dresses in all the clothes I grew up with bell bottoms, platform shoes, bandanas around her head like a kerchief (sp) flower power YUK! I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now. I also think she shows too much skin for her age, but I'm not her mother!

My "little girl" is 13 and taller than I am now. She is very conservative - Thank God! She's usually in jeans, Christian T-shirts, and tennis shoes...any dresses must come below the knees. She will not touch makeup and usually has her long hair pulled back in a ponytail.
Her best friend is the complete opposite...tons of makeup, perfume, etc...those little jeans that are low waisted with her tiny little tummy showing (she's a size 1-3) and little shirts. She was wearing cheerleader shorts and spaghetti strap tops to sleep in (oh yes, I do have a teenage son who's ga-ga over her) and she would prance around in this attire. Finally broke her of that and she's a "little" more conservative in her sleepwear these days...
