    Talking Long shot eye color

~My newest addition has blue eyes.
I have brown, DH has hazel(brown with green), DS has brown, DD #1 has hazel.
    My parents have brown.
    His parents have brown.
    His parents' parents had brown.
One of each of my parents' parents had blue eyes. That resulted in one blue eyed Aunt out of the 6 kids produced on both sides.
I have one blue eyed sibling and that was considered such a long shot that we heard a lot of jokes about his being the 'milkman's" when I was growing up.
I don't even know why I'm sharing this except parents always think everything their kids do is fascinating. ~

That is a lot like our youngest. He has light blue eyes, crystal blue with brown flakes. They are really cool looking. No one in our families have blue eyes and pretty much everyone has brown. DH, DD, MIL, FIL, SIL, my dad, and all of my dad's brothers and parents have dark brown eyes. Oh, and my eyes are dark brown as well. My mom has green eyes, she is our only oddball.

We tease DS about being the mailman's kid, too. He might get offended if, other than his eye color, he wasn't the spitting image of his dad.

I bet her blue eye are beautiful.

My children both had blue eyes when they were a babies they turned hazel when they were around 3 years of age. ( now if they turn colors they turn to green more than blue)

When my first was born and had blue eyes. The nurses looked at my dark brown eyes gave me the "most Caucasian babies are born with blue eyes" speech. One even patted my arm and said "don't worry they will turn brown" Then Hubby looked up at her with his clear blue eyes and she said "Or they won't"

Aren't eye colors strange? In college, while studying genetics, we learned that eye color isn't a simple dominate recessive genie thing. It is more complex then that.

My eyes are DARK brown, almost black, but I had a blue-eyed father so (obviously) carry a blue gene for eye color. My kids' father must also. My son has piercing ICE-BLUE eyes. They have served him well. I hope your newest addition keeps that eye color. Coming from a family myself of mostly very dark-eyed people, I've always found blue eyes somewhat of a novelty and very pleasing to look at.

Me and my first husband both had brown eyes... We had one daughter with hazel eyes and one daughter with blue eyes... The only other person in my family that has blue eyes is my oldest brother and we don't know where they came from... LOL

My dad's entire family has the prettiest blue eyes. My mom's all had hazel-to-dark-brown variations.

My brother got dark brown eyes, I got the hazel, but I will always and forever wish I had my dad's blue eyes. With my dark brown, almost black hair, wouldn't that have been beautiful???!!! Sighhhh!

So I looked up pictures of Hazel eyes. That is what Buddy's eyes look like but not Little Miss's

She has no brownish tint or yellowish tint. They are bluish grayish and greenish all at the same time.

I'm not sure what color to call them.

Do you have any idea what they are called?

~I don't think there is a term for grayish-bluish-greenish. The wikipedia pictures are interesting: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color"]Eye color - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Iris_close-up.jpg" class="image">

All my grandparents and both my parents had brown eyes, as well as all my siblings. I have blue eyes. My parents said they kept expecting my eyes to change color but they never did.

I married a man with blue eyes. All our kids have blue or green eyes. Some have blue with specks of brown like dh does.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, on my mom's side of the family have the most vivid blue eyes and people remark on them all of the time. My dad and all of his family, with the exception of one sister and hers are brown, have kind of glassy, sort of clear blue eyes and they really stand out. My sisters and brother have these blue eyes, while I have brown.
PICTURE THIS: 6th grade science class; the teacher states it is physically impossible for two blue eyed parents to have a brown eyed child. My hand goes up, & I say my eyes are brown and my mom & dad both have VERY blue eyes. She says "I'm sorry, but thats impossible". I go home and ask my mom (seriously) if I'm adopted and she said "No, of course not" and then I tell her what happened. She also remarked "you look JUST like your Dad's mother, just with brown eyes. She drove me to school the next morning and met with the teacher. During class later that day, the teacher amended the previous day's lesson to say that if the parent has just a microscopic speck of another color in they eyes, that yes they could have a child with brown eyes.

I can't even begin to think of what color my oldest's eyes are. They're weird. They aren't green or blue or hazel, but it's like a mix. Mine are blue with dark flecks in it. DS7's are hazel, and I can't even remember what DH's are. LOL

DH has brown eyes, mine are hazel (green/brown/blue). All three boys have brown eyes.

My guys love handing me things and having them hold them up by my eyes. They change color according to what is near them. Sometimes, they look more blue, or green, or brown depending on what color is near them. It is great entertainment for a rainy day.

Oh yeah, one of my eyes are bluer than the other too...

    Sounds like my eyes!!
