I called TSA and it turns out you can take remote control toys in your check in baggage. I'm going take it out of the box (since the box is too big to fit in the suitcase) and displace enough clothes to make room.

Oh my gosh!! OF COURSE TAKE THE CAR! My little brother is 9 (21 year age difference between us) & he loves anything with a remote. It will also break the ice & give you two something to do/have fun with so that it's not awkward/all about talking. Playing can be the best language!

great idea
turns out that the remote control truck was a great idea. he loved it and it was great ice breaker. Also all the other kids (big and small) enjoyed it too
