Default advice for 9 year old boy

I am meeting my stepson for the first time in November.
He is nine. My husband bought him a remote control car (a big one) two years ago but we couldn't afford the international shipping. So it's been sitting in a closet still in the box.

I mentioned to my husband that I was going to take the car for the boy, but he thinks the nine year old is too big for the remote control car.

I think it would be perfect and was most likely too old for him two years ago.

I don't know much about kids so if someone can give me some advice –

should I take the remote control car or not for a 9 year old boy?

    thanks in advance

I regularly see teenagers and older people playing with remote control vehicles. I see no problem with a 9 year old boy liking it.

Great age for it. Unless its made for 5 to 7 year old. The box should say age on it.

Got a picture or link? There are remote control cars for all ages so if it's a slow car, more appropriate for in the house, he may be too old for it.

The car would be a great gift for the boy, my husband is 38 and loves to play with them still.

Good luck with meeting your stepson.

    Default thanks

I want to thank everyone for the advice. I dug out the car. It's huge in the box it is so big that I can't even fit it in the rolling duffel bag that I was going to take. Which is also quite large.

I breifly thought about taking it our of the box but wonder if I'll have any issue with airport security, even in checked bag.

Anyone ever travel with a remote control car?

Take it with you. A couple of years ago we pulled my husband's nine year old nephew's name in the Christmas drawing and I can tell you we spent the better part of 2 hours in three different stores so hubby could find the perfect remote control car and let me tell you this kid to this day says it is his favorite gift yet and he is 12 and still uses it. My hubby is going on 53 and we still have to occassionally stop at that section of any store just to see what is the new rage in remote control cars and he wishes for someone to buy one for.

    Default age on box

it turns out that the box says ages 8 and UP.

I am going figure some way to take it.
I'm sure it will be a great hit.

Also it is a 4x4 ford truck with full function radio control.

thanks again for the advice everyone
