Question Are your preschoolers afraid of anything?

My dd is afraid of the vacuum. If she sees me going to the closet that the vacuum is in she will run upstairs. Today I got the vacuum out and she ran upstairs and took a nap. Does anyone elses preschooler fear anything?

My dd went through a series of odd fears when she was a preschooler. Things like flies, superhero costumes and playdoh.

My nephew used to be scared of shirt buttons. He would totally freak out.

They just grew out of it eventually. Sometimes I think they either have some sort of odd thought about something, or maybe a bad dream? Sometimes talking to them about it or helping them see things from a different perspective helps. My dd stopped being so freaked out by flies when I told her that they were dancing.

I've had them afraid of computers (thought she'd get sucked in), dogs, masks, the dark and one was afraid of his bed. He'd only sleep under it. They grew out of it.

My 4 year old is pretty fearless. He is afraid of sleeping alone. He and his brother share a room, and he will not go to bed unless his brother is in there with him. I'm sure he'll grow out of it eventually...hopefully, before his brother has his first sleepover and is gone for the night!

~Both of my kids have varying degrees of Sensory Integration Disorder so they react fearfully to noises, people and motion. Outside of things related to the disorder I can only name one thing that has always terrified my kids. Snuffilupigus. They are so afraid of him and his creepy voice. They shake and cry and run from the room to hide with their hands over their ears.~
