I'm not married yet and we don't plan to for awhile but I'm always interested in others stories.
Did you elope or have a big/small wedding? Did anything crazy happen? Would you do it differently next time? Like if you had a big wedding would you just have a small more intimate wedding or just head off to Vegas?
Can't wait to hear the sweet and romantic stories!!!

DH and I had reserved a small (three rooms!) historical house that is near our home. He was driving back from Georgia (temporary duty assignment there) when he got into a wreck the day before the wedding. The first thing I told him when he came out of surgery, was that this was the most extreme case of cold feet I had ever seen. We ended up being married by the church pastor.

We had a small wedding at the Church Dh was a member at (Where we attend now).He had another preacher from a diff church marry us.
I can't think of anything crazy that happened. I'm sure some of the older people that belonged to the church was surprised to see me 7 months pregnant in a white wedding gown
June 2,2003 will be our 14th Wedding Anniversary

Dh and I had a very small wedding. We were saving for a large one, but then we just couldn't wait any longer. So, we got married in a church near my house, and I didn't even walk down the aisle! lol But, it was great.

We had a small wedding and a friend that was a manager at an apt. complex let us use the community building for free for the reception. Some guy that lived at the apt.'s showed up and claimed we were in his spot. He proceeded to ram our car with his about 6 times. Mike's brothers are all biker' so I am sure you can imagine the rumble that started in the parking lot. Eventually the police came and gave the guy a ticket. He had no ins. so the free spot for the reception ended up costing us a fortune. I laugh every time I think about it. Oh ya I was 6 mo. pregnant and in white. My oldest dd was 2 and she was the flower girl. We let her drop confetti instead of petals. She went all the way down the isle then as the wedding started she dumped the confetti and rolled around in it at our feet.

DH and I got married in Costa Rica. We both wanted a low-key wedding that was just about the two of us. We knew we wanted to go to Costa Rica for our honeymoon, so when we started looking into the costs of a wedding here and all the people to deal with and the demands of our families, I said, “Forget it!”
Luckily, both sets of parents were supportive and even financed our dream wedding in another country. It was just DH and I and the owners of the B&B as our witnesses. We were married by a bi-lingual lawyer. It was very romantic.
When we got home, we threw a big party at a Mexican restaurant as a mini-reception for all the family and friends - almost 125 people! LOL
I would do it again in a heartbeat. I have memories of my wedding that bring a smile to my face every time I think about it!
We eloped. There was dh, myself, his sister and his cousin who were our witnesses and a very plump preacher that his sister and I laughed about all through the service.
We had the big wedding-about 150 or more guests. DH best man showed up at the church in red shorts, because the pants were not with his tux. We got it straightened out.
On the morning of our wedding, Dh and his friends went to the Y to play basketball. One of the ushers sprained his ankle and had to go to the ER. He is wearing sneakers in all of our pictures because he couldn't get the dress shoes on.
We left the church in a limo, and went through McDonald's drive thru. DH stood up (all 6'5" of him) through the sunroof to get the food.
We had a blast. We figured this was a one time deal, and we had a great time. No regrets. We'll be married 15 years on March 26, 2003.

Daphne,
My ex and I were supposed to get married at the Windermere Manor in London, Ontario, where Jeff went to university. We had stayed there before and thought it was the perfect place to have a wedding. It was to be small, around 45 guests, in the fall, all candlelit with the fireplace and the guests were all to stay in the adjoining hotel....my dream wedding. It's too bad...it really was the perfect little spot to get married. Take a look at the site, if you want, under the virtual tour. http://www.windermeremanor.com/

Dh and I were married in my parents home 16 years ago today, Dec. 20, 1986!
Everything was decorated for Christmas, it was small, only family and a couple of friends, about 45 people. We were married in thier living room in front of the fireplace. My dad built it himself, it is floor to ceiling marble. 8 feet high by 14 feet wide.
With a fire going, my dh was sweating bullets! My mom thought it was great that dh wasn't a drinker, well he was so nervous he was tipsy before the ceremony! I ended up driving us home!
Oh, and the only shoes I could find to match my dress had 4" heels. My feet fell asleep during the ceremony and I was afraid to try and walk when it was over! I thought I was going to fall on my face!
We had a great time!
