    Default sisters surgery update

Her surgery went fine but lasted 5 hrs. Operation was at 7:30 am and her hubby didn't get to see her until after 5pm. They had a really hard time getting her pain at a managable level.
I talked to her last night & she is still very uncomfortable. She had a problem with one nurse yesterday. She put her call light on and when it wasn't answered in 25 min she started calling out for someone to help her. An orderly was kind enough to get this "nurse". The "nurse" came in and stood away from the bed with the pain meds in her hand and said -"You want this?" She wanted my sis to move and reach to get it. Well my sis told her she had rights not to be abused like that & got the head superviser in there & she reassigned the so called nurse elsewhere. Makes you wonder what the bad nurses do to those who can't speak up for themselves. Other nurses have been so caring & compassionate.
I'll be going to the hospital with her dh & the kids this morning to see her. I'll let her know you are all rooting for her if ya don't mind.

Darlene, I'm so sorry your sister had to go through that. I realise our nurses are overworked, but that was uncalled for, and un-professional. She shouldn't be a nurse. I'm glad your sister got it straightened out right away.

My thoughts are with you and your sister

I agree with Diana. How horrible to take advantage of someone in pain like that.

You and your sister are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm glad her surgery went well, I hope her recovery is quick and easy..... I'm sorry to hear that she wasn't treated properly, I had a similar thing happen to me while I recovered from surgery, I was pinched by a nurse, humiliated left for long periods of time without any care..... Don't get me wrong, I think of nurses like Angels, I admire what they do, but just one bad one can really cause a lot of harm......... I hope she's doing better and this nurse is retrained somehow..........

She is actually sound asleep at 8pm . Whoo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She needs this sleep so very much! Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This makes my day & then some. She may be able to come home on Monday. Crossing our fingers that she'll be ready for that then. OK if it doesn't happen, we'll deal with it as it comes. Thanks for your support. You guys are the best!
