Question What is YOUR favorite children's book?

Mine is, and always will be Green Eggs and Ham! I love Dr. Zeuss, although we were pretty poor so I never had any Dr. Zeuss books. My ex's mother had saved ALL of his children's books...she was going to give them to us for our children...I never got to see them, but I would have loved it! Also, my next favorite children's book was the Nancy Drew mysteries, any and all of them. Your favorites? (I know I'll probably hear a few Harry Potter answers, LOL, I still haven't read the series, but I want to!)

Mine is definitely the Nancy Drew mysteries. I read those books so many times when I was younger. I wouldn't mind reading them now, either.

I always liked the Golden books- ones like "The Pokey Little Puppy" "The Little Train that Could" and such.

Older kids? Trixie Beldon, The Boxcar Kids series were always my favorites.

I also liked the "Little Women" books and "Girl of the Limberlost" "Freckles"

I love Shel Silverstein books. (giving tree, lafcadio, where the sidewalk ends etc)
I really loved Trixie Belden as a kid and also Harriet The Spy.
It's so awesome to be buying Zachary books and remembering many of them from when I was a kid. (like caps for sale and lyle crocodile etc)

For young children I love "Is your Momma a Llama?" and "Sheep in a jeep". I loved the golden books (poky little puppy especially) as a youngster.

As an older child I loved the Little House books. (still do)

I remember reading this series of books called "Amelia Bedelia" about a maid who is always getting things mixed up. I remember that it tickled my funny bone. I also read the Little House on the Prairie books and Nancy Drew mysteries.

My children still love "I love you forever."

Each night before bed they always repeat,
"I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my 'moma' you'll be."

Gee, I love soooo many of them. Myself as a child - The Little House Books and Charlotte's Web, Harriet the Spy and All of a Kind Family.

My dd loves all the Tamora Pierce Protector of the Small series and Richard Peck A Long Way from Chicago.

DS - has a different favorite all the time but my favorite to read to him has to be Click Clack Moo and Giggle Giggle Quack. We die laughing every time we read them. Also My Momma Monster, he knows that one by heart.

Ds#1 says the first chapter book he ever read was the Wizard of Oz. He doesn't like to read, but right now he is reading the Native Son!

DD#2 must have had every book In the Babysitter's Club series.

DD#1, hated to read, she felt it was punishment

    Ds#2 loved Goosebumps

Me? too many to name...#1 of all times Stuart Little, Stellaluna, A Chair For My Mother, The Giving Tree, and all of the Magic Treehouse series. I am trying to collect all of them for my classroom.
