Question New Mom's or Mom's with children on formula.

I was wondering if any of you have made your own formula. My Mom did this and I would think it would be much cheaper. Six out of 7 of us were on this (my oldest brother is Mom's step-son).

Now it wouldn't be cheaper if you get WIC or are breast feeding and if anyone is interested I can get the recipe from my Mom the next time I call her (in a day or two).

It has evaporated milk, karo syrup and possible liquid vitamins in it. I'm not sure about the vitamins, I know we took them as small children but I don't remember if Mom put them in the formula too. She used an eye dropper and they tasted like iron.

Just a thought, if any of you are interested. I thought of this while driving today. Haven't a clue where it came from as I have never had children!!!

One of my friends did something like that- breast feeding didn't work out too good for her and her daughter would have screaming fits with regualr formula, so she gave ger baby evaporated milk and vitamin drops. Not really sure if it's the best for a baby, but her daughter is as healthy as could be.

Laura, I can't remember any of us being sick very much either. At least not with colds and flu. We did all get the usual childhood diseases like mumps and chicken pox.

Mom used this as she never breast fed. She usually had 3 of us in diapers and on bottles at one time. Also they didn't make formulas back then like they do now.

I know some doctors have concerns with the kayro syrup. It could cause boultism(sp?)Same reason infants shouldn't be given honey.
