Had a scare yesterday
Yesterday I was going out to switch the laundry.
On my way back to the house(since it's located in the back of the fourplex) I was looking around ...then I saw this itty bitty person way up ahead of me. Wait..that looks like the outfit ayla was wearing. WAIT that itty bitty person has ayla's HAIR OMG IT"S AYLA WHAT ON EARTH IS SHE DOING OUTSIDE...I never ran so slow, or felt like my feet were so heavy in all my life!
not only was i freaking out over what could have happened, but it was so embarrassing if anyone saw what happened...and ayla was all disheveled
She was just in a onesie, hair in an afro, and just some pink socks that were half way from coming off her feet.
I could have sworn i shut the door behind me...that's what scares me, did she open the door herself even with the guard on it, or did the door just not 'click' shut when i left...
I feel so bad

Oh honey I know how you feel. One morning dh and I decided to sleep in.Lauren woke up(early early early)and said she is going to go watch tv.Later(30min)asked if she could go outside.I said not until daddy and I get up.Well I come downstairs when I wake up to the tv on and the front door opened.I ran outside and yelled for her with no answer.Ran rampid through the house yelling for her.Looking under beds in closets.Ran to the backyard yelled for her still no answer.I was for sure someone kidnaped her. Finally went to the front again yelled for her continously was about to go to my van and there she was hiding behind a tree. She said she just came out a few minutes ago to get some fresh air.OMG I freaked out.I felt like the most awful parent alive. So no your not alone. The door probably didn't shut all the way.And if she's figured out how to open the guard then if weather permits I would just take her with you or put her in her room with a gate up.I know how scary it is to think your kid is in one place and to find them in another.

Oh wow hun!! That would have been just awful
I am soo soo so glad you found her!!
That's true though, I should have had her in her room. Which is odd I didn't, I usually do have her in her room in her crib while I do the laundry..i wait for her nap time, or if she's not tired I just put her in there with some toys while I go out. I don't know why but I guess since dh was in the room sleeping i felt 'safe' for some reason...which doesn't make sense because he was ASLEEP rofl, and his door was shut...argh! I sure won't be doing that again that's for sure.

It happens to everybody. I was watching my sisters kids and had to go to the store. I left them and mine with dh. When I came home they were all playing outside except Jasmine(my dsis dd). I asked dh where she was. Oh outside I just checked. I said no she was gone. We ran through the house yelling and checking beds and closets. check all around the yard. We live a 1/2 mile away from the road so I didn't think she had gotten kidnapped, but we live on a farm. I just knew she was at the bottom of the pond. We checked around hay bails and all around the pasture no Jasmine. Then finally my ds says look. There was Jasmine curled up in the bag that goes onto the lawn mower! Asleep. I have never been so scared in all my life.

dont fell bad..when my little brother was 2,he had a little money and decided to got to the store to buy candy..well he had the whole project looking for him( we lived in the bronx at the time) and no one found ..he ended up coming back on his own..but i have to add he didnt have to go across any street..my mom would let me or my older sister take him( we are all 3yrs apart).
the sad thing is we cant to that to day..this occured in the late 60's and it was common for kids to go to the store by themselves, even the kinda young ones.car loan 12/2006 14,687.93

Oh Heather honey, don't feel bad, it happens to all of us. When DS was about 2 he crawled up on his toybox and worked on his window until he managed to get the screen loose and then he just climbed out the window and toppled to the ground. I did not even know until I heard him at the front door calling to me through the screen door. He had to have unlatched a gate and walked around the house to get to the door. We lived on a rather busy road and I was almost in tears just thinking of what could have happened. I made sure that all my windows were Tyler-proofed after that. He is now a happy healthy 17 year old.
Blessings,
Kathy

{{Hugs}} I know how you feel. I couldn't find ds once in the house. Somehow he had gotten the screen door open that I forgot to lock. Luckily he didn't go farther than the rocks at the front of the carport right outside the house, but boy was I scared! (Not to mention we were in a foreign country!)
