Default how do you deal with???

your children when they say "BUT MY FRIENDS GET TO!!!!!!!!!" Keiko use to say it all the time, and now Myriah has started. I personally say you know what I am your mother and not theirs, and if their parents let them that is their business but your not going to.
Or if it is not right in my eyes, I tell them I love you and your my child and your not going to do it.

IS there a better way to handle this.
    How do you do it

I just tell them, that's them and I don't know why their parents would allow that ...... I often use my Mother's old stand by "Cuz I said so that's why !!!!!!!! " It worked for her ......

I tell them that if their parents choose to let them do that, well that is their choice not mine. I am your parent not theirs. I am your mother and I am here to keep you safe. (If I feel something is not safe.)

I agree with the other ladies. I just tell Baylie that we don't do that sort of thing in our house or family. Works for now. I may have to revise that once she gets to be a teenager. LOL

I hear ya sister! I have 3 teenaged boys and my husband and I have always told them that we make decisions on what is best for them. Now that the boys are older, they are beginning to see how some of their "friends" are getting onto trouble and making some not so wise decisions because their parents have "let them" do things that maybe they shouldn't have and the kids have found themselves in situations that they are not ready for or have gotten them into trouble. I have alwyas told my boys that if they ever find themselves in a situation where their "friends' ask them to do something they are not comfortable with, they can always tell their friends that we, their parents, will not allow them to do such and such. It helps them save face and I really don't care if their friends are upset with me as long as my kids are safe. Funny thing is that now my kids are just telling their friends that they don't think such and such is a good idea and that they would rather do something else. All those years of explaining things to them and telling them that we only want the best for them and love them with all our hearts have paid off!!!!
