question about jaundice in newborns....
morgan is still a little jaundice and he is a week old today. his skin doesn't look real yellow to me. maybe a little in his face, but not rest of his body. his eyes are still kinda yellow. i'm just wondering if i should be worried???
when the dr. looked at him when we were still in the hospital, he said he was a little jaundice, but he wasn't worried cause he is such a big baby. (that they only worry when they are smaller). i thought he said it should go away in a few days....just expose him to some natural sunlight. well, we've done that. we've had a few really nice days here and i've taken him outside a few times. so, now what??? should i call the dr. and let him know it still hasn't gone away?? or am i just a worrying mama???
please help!!

I would go ahead and call the dr., although he is probably fine. I was a super worried mama and decided that a simple call to the dr. was better than me going nuts with worry. Have you opened the blinds/curtains in the room he's in to let more sunlight in? My dd was a bit jaundiced to but it did not last long. She was a July baby and it was easier to be outside then. By the way, he is beautiful.

Misty--Jackson had jaundice really bad and he stayed yellow looking for about 2-3 weeks..it was so bad!
You can always call and let them know he's still a little jaundice, but I bet everything is ok
But to ease your mind..call em!

Tyler was slightly jaundice when he was born too. We didn't do anything special and it went away.
If you are concerned I would call though. Thats what the doctors and nurses are there for.

Yes call them. It is probably no big deal, but it is always better to call and ease your mind. I htink being a worried mommy is what makes someone a good mommy!

I would call them, the triplets were jaundiced but they were preemies and tiny.
It is common but call the dr so you don't have to worry..

Alexandra was a bit jaundice too. When she went to her first visit the dr recommended natural light as you mentioned already and also suggested some water for her to drink. (which didn't happen because she is bf and wouldn't accept a bottle and cup feeding didn't go over well either)
I personally thought she was pretty yellow, but the dr said no she wasn't all that yellow at all.
I would definitely still call though. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Roman was too sometimes the liver doesn't function right away. the doctor said put him in a window for the light and he was fine in a couple of weeks.

My last baby was jaundiced, I tried the window treatment and it didn't work. I had to take him back to the hospital for a couple of days so he could be under the lights. Jaundice can be dangerous and affect the hearing, so do call. Dont panic, just call. Before I even left the hospital they already felt that I would probably be bringing hom back, so your doctor probably feels okay about everything. Post and let us know.
