A Little Frustrated Over Here

Okay...I don't talk about this much, but it is really starting to frustrate me. We've been trying to get pregnant since December. I realize this is not a long time in the grand scheme of things, but it feels like forever. It took 7 months to get pregnant with dd and we're almost to that point again. I've been charting my temperature every morning for the past few months and even used an ovulation predictor kit this month. Every other month, my temps have shown that I'm ovulating. Figures, the one month that I bite the bullet and shell out $26 for the opk, it appears as if I am not ovulating! I know people try for years and that others never get pregnant and that I should thank my lucky stars that I even have dd, and believe me, I do...she's amazing and I thank God for her every day. I want another child now, though, and I'm starting to get depressed over not getting pregnant. It's funny...dh had to convince me to start trying again. I only wanted one. I'm the only child of two only children, so I don't really know how big families work. I always thought it was ridiculous, because how can you possibly love two children the same? But now, I love even the thought of a sibling for dd. I think it would make our family even happier, which seems impossible, but I know it's true. I know that my love would multiply, not divide. I just want it to happen already!

Amy, it took me a year to get pregnant with DD3. It will happen. It only happened for us after we relaxed and decided if it was meant to be, it will happen. When we were all stressed about ovulating, getting pregnant, etc, that made it all the more frustrating. Sit back and let nature take its course. It sounds harder than it is. Good luck!

Maybe there is a specific child God has in mind waiting to be born, and this is mother nature's way of making sure that that special child he has in mind will be created.

Oh, I just remember part of what is stressing me out about this. While ttc, I am not allowed to take my skin medication. I have this freaky skin virus that causes my chin to break out like crazy...I look like one of the 8th graders that I teach when I'm not on the medication. Well, I can't take it when ttc because if I get pg it could harm the baby. So, I've also been disgusting looking since December, which is part of what is making me so upset. I know, small price to pay for a child, I just hate looking in the mirror lately.

I know...I'm a big whiner.

Whine all you want! Your allowed. The frustration is overwhelming. We also tried for dd#4 for a year and then we quite trying and just decided if it hapen then it happen. Two months later I was prego. I think it happens for a lot of people that way. Good Luck and it's coming just be patient. I know easier said than done.

I had to have surgery to get pregnant at all. It took eleven YEARS to get pregnant with the first...and two WEEKS with the second!

I understand your frustration. I would cry every time someone I knew accidentally got pregnant or when my s-i-l got pregnant the first month they tried!

I actually went to an infertility specialist to find out why I wasn't getting pregnant thirteen months after my surgery to get rid of endometriosis. He checked me over and said (with a poker face),"Wrap up. We're going across the hall." I was scared to death, thinking he'd found a growth or something. He squirted the goo on my belly, and ran the ultrasound across my stomach. Andrew rolled over and waved "Hi, Mom!" to me!!!!!!!! I cried sooooooooo much it was ridiculous--I was FOUR AND A HALF MONTHS PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!

I hope that for your sake things are quickly resolved. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? Is the biological clock winding down or do you have a little time? Hang in there and feel free to vent as much as you need to. A BUNCH of us have been in the same boat you have!

I like Heather's opinion about God waiting for the special child to come in your life.

Oh Lori, that story made me cry. That same thing happened to a friend of mine. They were told she couldn't have children because of endometriosis. She was having some probs, and when they did the ultrasound, she was six weeks pregnant! She now has a beautiful little girl!

It is so hard and is also so frustrating... Just keep trying and hopefully it will happen..

I remember those days when it seems like everyone can get pregnant it just seems so unfair but hang in there and keep trying..
3 years of fertility treatment and we got pregnant with the triplets in a month when all my levels were wrong and it was my last change before IVF and my insurance wasn't going to pay for IVF so it was my last chance and we got pregnant with the triplets so amazing things can happen..

Sorry to hear that you can't take your meds that can really bring you down along with everything else....

Hi Amy,
The more you stress about getting pregnant, the less likely it is to happen. Stress screws up your system royally! One of my friends tried to concieve for a year and was so frustrated. She and her husband were under alot of stress. Two weeks after they eliminated the major stressor in their lives and relaxed a bit, they got pregnant.

Please try to relax a bit and have some fun. Don't make "getting PG" the goal each time you are intimate with yur husband. They start to resent it (spoken from experience here). My DH used to pray each month that I would be pregnant when we were trying to concieve because I would get so depressed if I wasn't and then make getting PG my "goal" for the next month. Poor guy suffered through quite a bit himself seeing me all depressed and not being able to do anything to help me overcome it.
