we need good thoughts
I need some good thoughts today.. We are fighting the superintendent's decision to separate our tripets into separate kindergarten classrooms. Tonight is the school board meeting and the final decision.. I feel sick to my stomach when I think about this, I hope the school board will go with what we know is right for our children but who knows they might side with the school..
So long story short I need some good thought my way..
Thanks,
Eileen

Why don't you want them in different classrooms? Just curious.
Hope things go the way you'd like them to.

well long story and lots of thought and research went into this decision but in a nut shell...
well right now Gunnar, Zachary and Rebecca are4 will be 5 next month so they meet the kindergarten cut-off, so they are young,
and in town the kindergarten is a 5 full day program (6 hours a day) and I think that is way too much to be away from me all day for the first time and to be separated from each other, when they are apart (a play date here and there) they are always wondering what the others are doing and those type things so they won't really be paying attention to school 100% but will be thinking about each other. but when theya re together they go off on their own they have security while they are togehter but don't cling or need each other (hard to explain typing but) the school says it will make sure that our children sit together at lunch and have recess together but that is when they should be amking other friends and venture out from each other.
So we want Gunnar, Zachary & Rebecca to share a kindergarten class and we will seperate them in 1st grade after they are used to a full day school program.
We think as parents we know what is better for our children then the school who doesn't know them who just sees them as a 6 eyed monster known as "triplets"
I do understand the school's points where child need to be individuals well they are already individuals so separate classrooms isn't needed to make them individuals they need to be treated that way (like called by theor names not the triplets and things like that)..
I could go on and on on why that is the right decision for them at this but I won't.

I think there should be an option for multiples and not a "policy" for all multiples.
You know your children best and I don't see why a school board would want to go against what you want.
I would think they need strong reasons why you want them together, as well as present strong reasons why they should be separated.
I don't think a school board has enough data that supports why they should be separated.
I have to admit that if I had multiples, I'd probably want them in different schools, but that's just my opinion and I don't have multiples, so not much experience to back my opinion.
Overall, I think it's kindergarten and I don't see why a school would make such a big deal over your wishes for kindergarten.
I think that whatever they decide, they should be as consistent as possible with your children's learning. (as they should be for all children anyway)
Do your children have any special needs or academic concerns?
I don't see this not going your way. I mean how can it really? It should be case by case, individual by individual and not some preset policy. I'm sure they realize this and will favor what you want.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I hope everythig works out well for you. I have a friend who's twins start school this year too. She asked form them to be in seperate rooms because they tend to only concentrate on each other if they are together. It might take a little time to get used to the seperation but she feels it will be better in the long run.

well just to update you, the school board went like we thought they would they decided they didn't want to override the superintendents authority so the superintendent has final say..
Really I am not surprised BUT I am upset but that was the decision.
SO today I am enrolling them in a private school.
