i am a terrible mommy :o( (long)
ok girls, something happened and i was soooo scared.
i was cooking dinner last night and hubby was right in the kitchen with me. our counter is "L" shaped and i had morgan in his bouncy seat on the other end of the counter. well, i don't know if he kicked or bounced, but the bouncy seat FELL to the floor with him in it.
hubby and i both saw him falling, but couldn't get to him in time. it was like i saw it in slow motion. i screamed and ran to him and i know i did the worst possible thing. i jerked him up out of the seat and held him close. i could see the way he hit the floor and i could see his head and neck bend up. (that is why i said it was probably the worst thing) i was soooooo scared and i was crying. he was crying. i was just holding him and crying. i did check him over and he seemed ok. after only a few min he was back to himself....smiling at daddy. i watched the way he was acting for the rest of the night, and he seems fine. it doesn't seemed to have phased him a bit.
i just feel soooooooooooooooooooo terrible. i only had him up there because he likes to watch me do things.
i'm so glad he at least was buckled in. i never put him in it without buckling it.
please don't think i'm horrible, i already feel that way. i just had to tell you girls....cause you are like my best friends.

Oh Misty... don't feel bad, things like that just happen with babies. He was strapped in and probably was crying more out of fear than any real hurt. Just remember, kids are going to take spills and have scrapes - it's just part of growing up.
If it makes you feel better (and makes me look worse), I stepped on Isaac's hand yesterday. I was in the kitchen and he was playing on the floor. Well, he's very close to crawling and can scoot around pretty fast. I was standing at the sink and took a step back and got him. OMG, I heard a cry from him I'd never heard before, and I felt terrible. I just hate to be the one that hurts him. He's fine, and I did the exact same thing you did - immediately picked him up and held on as tightly as possible!

I know that "slow motion" feeling and it's like your feet are cemented to the floor. That is the worst feeling in the world.
And no, you're not a bad mommy- we all do things like that (whether we want to admit it or not). Good thing babies get over things alot quicker than us mommies do
Glad to hear Morgan is OK!!

Zachary once fell off our bed as a baby and I felt so horrible. I honestly felt like I didn't deserve a child. I felt that bad.
Gabe takes the children if they get hurt. I can't take it when they are hurting and cry worse than they do.
I'm glad everything is ok.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Your mom must hang out with my MIL. She was over here a while back and I was telling her that I was worried I would fall asleep on the couch with Maria.... her comment? "Don't worry, she won't be the first baby to fall off of a couch." Like it was to be expected, no big deal.... :rolleye:
Glad to hear Morgan's OK!

Dd pulled ds off of the couch when he was only a week old! Poor kid. Now that he's got hat on his resume, I wonder what will be next."well, for a first fall, that's pretty high. usually it's off the couch first."
I'm sorry that had to happen to you, and I'm glad he's OK. Let's all keep those bouncy seats on the floor.

I think this sort of thing happens to most moms. We've had some pretty horrible things happen, and I know I've felt like a terrible mom at times. Don't be too hard on yourself. Life is scary sometimes. Remind yourself that you really do love your babies and want the best for them.

Don't feel bad Misty. You are a great mom. (((Hugs))) Accidents happen. But I know how that can be so painful in mother's heart. I'm glad he's ok.
Patrick also fell off my bed when he was 4 months. I was in the bathroom, 2 minutes, and I heard a bang...he stopped breathing and became white as a gost and soft as a dish towel...I panicked. I was alone with all 4 kids. I went to the hospital with a friend. He turned out to be just fine, but I never forgave myself for that in a long time...
But Misty, forgive yourself. It wasn't your fault.
Ok?

to you and Morgan, you are NOT a bad Mommie!
Here is a tip so it won't happen again. Go to Walmart and get a roll of shelf liner, now the one I'm talking about is like the stuff you can put under throw rugs so they don't slip. It is right in the bins with all the other shelf liners and contact papers. Cut a piece bigger than his seater, lay it on the counter top and smooth it out. Then place his seater on it empty and you try to move it. If it doesn't move you should be okay placing him in the seat.
Good Luck,
