Just a quick rant - DD is more sick today than yesterday. She went to the dr. on Sunday, went to school yesterday and is coughing her head off and running a fever today. Whenever she gets sick, I feel totally useless and like a failure. Logically I know this is not my fault, but motherwize I get frustrated that I can't make her well. She is taking her meds, resting and complaining loudly. She is in love with Clementines. Thanks Sara for mentioning these on Homestead Gardens. This is the first time we have ever gotten any and they are a God send. It's about all she will eat and she is drinking a little 7up. Do your kids whine when they are sick or is it just because she is an only child? SO is at work and I am at home with her. My brother is due in this afternoon from AZ and I have already called and warned him to not expect to much. Him and his wife chose to not have kids so this makes no sense to him at all.
Okay I have complained enough. Thank God that I have been blessed with a child, even a sick child and have you guys to rant too.
Please don't feel like a failure. Kids get sick and all we can do is try to make them comfortable, get them the medical attention they may need and pray. I can understand your frustration having 3 home sick with me right now, but I know it's not my fault they are sick and all I can do is my best.
Tell "her hieniness" that what she needs is to be calm & quiet! Yeah, well, it's not working with Belle either!
Our kiddos are pretty good "sickies" - not really vocal whininess...ME, HOWEVER....my older brother is 10 years older than me & my younger one is 21 years younger - so for all intents & purposes, I was raised as an only child - my specialty - making other folks miserable when I felt bad!!!
Don't stress about it Pat! It's a gift from GOD to parents of only children!! I guess when you have more than one, more time is spent in prayer - you know "Dear GOD, don't let me choke that child for asking me the same question a milliion times in a row...." and those types!! HE's just calling you close!!
Here's a hug for you.....I'm beating myself up enough for all of us today - try to relax and take it easy - if you have time before your brother gets in, could you go curl up next to her, let her know how much you love her, and that if you could, you'd take it all away - and if that doesn't work, just run screaming from the house!!
Pat, I hope your dd feels better very soon ........
Mine whine too !!!!!!!!!

Dee - I'm happy to say that I lost my mind years ago so there is no need to worry.
DD is home today again!! She is still coughing like crazy but no fever when I left to come to work. My poor brother is having to babysit today while SO teaches 1 class. He can cancel the rest and should be back at home by 10:30. I fed DD and gave her meds before I left. All my brother has to do is just be there. She will not whine at him. I'm sure she's saving that for me Poor SO has to feed them lunch and I will be back at home around 3:30 today to resume my duties as Wonder Woman!
