aunt-in-law for sale or trade
Here's the phone call I got this morning from DH's psycho aunt:
me: Hello?
her: (very, very sarcastic) Ummm.... helllllooooo..... is everyone alright there?
me: Yes, we're fine...
her: (very hateful tone) Well, FINE, that's all I wanted. BYE! :::click::::
Isn't that pleasant? Apparently that lovely conversation is her way of letting us know she's mad at us for some reason. Maybe because we didn't call her on Christmas? That's the best reason we can think of so far. She didn't call us, either, but that wouldn't matter in her world. I really wanted to call her back and ask what the h@#! her problem was, but I didn't.
Then, later today, DH goes out the front door (which we rarely use) and finds a package of small gifts for Maria from the same aunt. So, maybe the attitude was because we had not yet called to thank her? I have no idea when she could have dropped the gifts off-- it had to be late last night or this morning. She didn't ring the doorbell or knock or anything~ I haven't left the house since last evening.
Gee, can anyone guess why we're the only ones in the family who speak to her?!
I've learned not to respond to her... I will just ignore her and send a thank-you note in a few days. Of course, the last time we mailed her anything (a birthday card) she was mad at the world and marked "refused, return to sender" on it, so she may or may not even read the darn thing.
Anyone wanna trade weird relatives for a while?

You say you wanted to call, I probably would have called her right back...lol
I can't believe she dropped something off at a door you hardly use and didn't let you know and now she is mad at you. That is messed up. I hope she doesn't refuse the card you send her.
Sorry she called and is mad at you.

Some people are impossible to get along with. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.
You said for sale or trade? Well, I have a dandy of a sil, you can *have*. She sounds similar to your aunt in law. Thankfully, she lives almost a thousand miles away in NYC. I would go nuts, if she lived nearby.

Nope, don't want her.
Sounds like a long story as to why she is not happy, goes back years I bet. I'd send the thank you note tho...

Thanks, all. And Debbie, somehow I think I'd still be getting the better end of your 2-for-1 deal!

I haven't been on here since I posted that the other day.... in the meantime DH gave in and called her (I knew he would). She went on a big tantrum about how inconsiderate we are, even after DH told her that 1.) we never use that door and 2.) I'd spent the night in the ER. She was still mad. At this point, I really don't care~ I just don't have the energy to deal with being ill and listening to her. So, I'm not answering the phone if it come up as "blocked" on caller ID and I won't worry about her for now.

Amy You just can't win with some people because they are not "normal" and "reasonable". Hope you are feeling better soon. I'll keep you in prayer!

I think it's interesting that the rest of the family don't talk to her. Sounds like she's playing the role of the spoilt child and the others are sick of it. If it were me, I'd refuse to play. If she phoned me I'd say that I'd be happy to talk to her if she used a reasonable tone and dropped the attitude. If she started to rant at me I'd tell her to call back when she's in a better mood and hang up.
