Post First I'll Be a Mother.........

    First I'll Be a Mother

Some houses try to hide the fact that children shelter there.

Ours boasts of it quite openly. The signs are everywhere.

For smears are on the windows. Little smudges on the door.

I should apologize, I guess, for the toys strewn on the floor.

But I sat down with the children and we played and laughed and read and if the doorbell doesn't shine, their eyes will shine instead.

For when at times I'm forced to choose, the one job or the other.

I want to be a housewife, but first I'll be a Mother!!

Oh if we could only remember this when we have company coming or we see another home where no children live.

Thanks Heather for the gentle reminder.

Thank you Heather. I love it. I will try to remember that when someone pops in unexpectedly and I am stressing over baseballs, caps, etc. being everywhere.

Thanks Heather. That's how my home has been since my boys are little babies...but I can't say I never dream of a clean, orderly home, sometimes... ...oh well, when they all will be grown-ups, my home might a little fancier...
