Ear Thermometers
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good ear thermometer? We've had a Braun Thermoscan since Julia was a baby. However, it has stopped working properly, even after having the battery changed and dh suggested I ask you ladies if you had any suggestions regarding a good ear thermometer.

I don't have one, so I am no help. I know they used to not be very reliable when they first made it to the retail market. They have come a long way since then though. Good luck with your choice!

There's one at WalMart-- I don't know the name as I don't have it myself-- that takes only ten seconds to read. It's in a blue and white package in the baby section.
DD's nurse was telling me about it & how great it was, so I looked at it, but I couldn't really afford it at the time, since it's right around $50.

Our hospital (& the one I worked for in VA) doesn't recommend using them - they aren't as accurate....I still have mine though!! It's an "AccuTherm" that I bought at K-Mart about 7 years ago! I've changed the battery a couple of times & it's still works like a champ!

we bought a braun thermoscan a few months ago. it's what our new doctor's office uses. i haven't had any problems with it yet. i did have to replace teh battery, but it still works fine. if you have a linens n things near you, you might see if they still have any. they were marked down a little while ago. i got mine for around 25 bucks.
