Unhappy Oh, I'm a terrible mommy!!

Ok, last night I had a hot pocket in the oven for Baylie. So the timer went off and I said can you turn that off for me Baylie? I was holding Rylie and asked Baylie if she could just get the food out of the oven. (she has done it before with no problems) So she gets it out and touches the pan with her exposed hand and burns it pretty good.

Of course dh gets mad at me for letting her do that and I get mad at me for letting her do that. Baylie said she forgave me but wasn't ever going to let me 'make' her get anything out of the oven again.

Dh was wrapping her hand up and Baylie said through some tears, "Thank goodness daddy is a medic!" We got a good laugh from that. LOL

But it looks like she is going to be ok. She said her hand doesn't hurt this morning. So I am off to apologize some more!

I'm so sorry Baylie was hurt, but glad her 'Daddy the Medic' was there to fix her up!

She did indeed learn a valuable lesson, she said it herself. Now you know she won't go near the stove when you aren't around.

Hope the 'ouchie' goes away soon Baylie.

    Laci,
You are a fine mommy, really. We've all done those things and our kids learn that we are just regular folk and mess up sometimes. I think you're a fine person. Now hug Baylie for me.

Aww. Sometimes it's hard to judge what a kid can do or not do. She now will respect the oven, and will most likely be very careful around it. Life is full of these kind of moments.

{{{BIG HUGS LACI}}} you are a wonderful mommy. i know how you feel about letting her do things by herself. madison is apretty mature 5 1/2 year old and i let her do a lot for herself. (usually nothing to do with the stove) but i think 7 yrs old is old enough to do those things. it was just an accident. (at least she didn't fall off the counter when she was a couple months old ) i had morgan in his bouncey seat on the counter and he bounced it right off. accidents happen.....it is a part of life. you are a great mommy for letting her be independent. she is learning.
