Buying for the following year
Do you buy your children their clothes for the following year - like will you buy next winter's clothes when they go on sale now?
I used to do this always. It was a great way to save on clothing costs. I could really get a good bargain and I was sure on the sizes. But not now
I just can't guess Ryan's size for the future anymore. She's very tiny with a long, thin body. I can pick up a few shirts since they don't have to fit exact but no pants. Seems like some years she just doesn't grow hardly any and others she takes off. I used to even buy shoes but not now. It takes forever to find her something that fits right and it's rarely on sale. Needless to say we have lots of tops and not many bottoms. I even have a few things that I've held over for a couple of years waiting for her to grow into them.

When they were smaller I would, but now they that are older and forever outgrowing items, I wait. I never know what one will be wearing from day to day.

I do with the little ones. I had to stop with ds#1 when he turned 8 and unpredictable.

I'm with the rest of you who find it easier when they are younger. I still do it some for dd who is 7 1/2, but it's not as easy. I'm finding her growth is much more sporadic instead of steady and gradual like when she was younger. I found she went from size 6x last year into mostly 8-10s this year, skipping quickly over the size 7-8s I bought last year on clearance. The good part is I can always resell her little worn clothes at Once Upon A Child.
Now with ds who is 4 it is still working well to buy next year's clothes from this year's clearance racks. He is pretty well set for a while!

I do with the baby on some things and with Zachary on shirts.

I use to but can't anymore, unless its for Michael. He hasn't grown much and probably won't in the near future. Otherwise, its impossible to know how much the kids will change over a years time now.

sometimes...but I can usually always find a good deal on a size she needs asap by looking either at goodwill or clearance racks.

I buy ahead for Madison if I find a good deal. Before Madison was born my g/f brought two BIG bags of clothes. I washed them all and then sorted them by size. I have save a lot of money that way. My other g/f who had a boy gave me a box of running shoes in diff. sizes. This has also helped me so much.

DD is still young enough that I can buy ahead. I have things for the next couple of years, actually!

I used to do that until they turned about 10-ish....about then the "if mom picks it out, I don't like it---wouldn't be caught dead in it" thing kicked in too. So I had to quit.

Oh My...I am the queen of "buying before they can wear"

Katie wears a size 4t-5t...I buy size 6 clothes for her if I find a good deal.
Jackson wears 24 mo-2t...and I buy 3t for him.
Jayme wears 6-9 months and I have clothes for her up to size 24 months!
I bought the cutest red christmas dress(for next year) a few weeks ago at WM for $3 and a pant suit for $1..they retailed for $17.96 and $15.96
