Is this normal?
Jayme will be 9 months old tomorrow and she's not crawling yet

I think one reason is because we have hardwood floors. She'll get on her knees but they slide out from under her when she tries to move. Still though,I'm a little concerned.
My others kids were crawling all over the house by 6 months!!
Is this normal?

I wouldn't worry about it, Tammy. Ds is 10 months and he didn't crawl until 9 months. He's pulling himself up and taking steps around the furniture now! Shoot, dd didn't walk until 17 months! Little chicken. They're all distracted by and interested in different things. She'll probably start this afternoon, now that you've said something! You can always ask her doc at your next well baby check if your still concerned.

Isaac didn't start crawling until 8 months....I think if she's getting up on her knees she'll be moving around in no time. If you're really concerned, mention it at her 9 month check-up.

Every child goes at their own pace, so try not to worry to much. Wynter is almost 6 months an she gets up in crawling mode..lol...bt all she can do so far is go backward....lol.

Does she move about somehow? Like bum shuffleing or something?
Either way I wouldn't be bothered, some kids don't EVER crawl.
The other thing is she has an older sister doesn't she? If she can point and moan and get somebody to go places and get the things she wants/needs then she doesn't NEED to crawl
I had one like that!

My oldest walked at 12 months and crawled at 13. It really is different for all children. And just like Bev said if there is an older one that gets things it will not motivate them to move. She will probably either crawl or develop her own way of getting around by the time her birthday rolls around.

I was going to say what Bev said. There is no need to crawl with older siblings who will bring things to you! Normal is defined by what is "normal" for each individual child. Ask your pediatrician if you are seriously concerned, but I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.
