Having a new FIT
These two have me crying today. They emptied out DS's dresser while I was making breakfast. It has been a constant fight to make them clean up. While I was putting dishes away, They emptied the diaper stacker all over dd's room(clean un used diapers), and dumped all her toys everywhere. while i was re afixing the stacker to the hook, Hannah pulled vhs tape out of the vhs cassette and shoved something, God knows what, in DH's Nintendo. I got sick of Hannah's attitude and put her in her crib for time out and a nap. I go to check on her, she has stripped naked and taken the contents of her dapier and smeared them all over the wall, she peed all over her crib sheets. Meanwhile Ds was supposed to be cleaning his room, instead spent the time pulling out more toys....
I am bawling right now. I have noone here in town to talk to, DH is working and gave me a lecture about calling him at work. All I wanted to do was take a walk to do some shopping today. That's all I wanted to do. Dh won't be home till way past 9 pm, MIL and FIL are at the hopsital having MIL's second breasts biopsied, so i haven't anyone to talk to or get help from.

It just isn't getting any better, in the short time it took me to post that, Hannah got into my camera cubby and pulled all the film out of one of my cameras.
Thanks Michelle. It is getting tough whith these two, I might be taking you up on that offer very soon!

Melissa,
I do hope it gets better soon.
A really neat trick for the stripping - putting coveralls or pj's on backwards. Its hard with pj's, but I ended up cutting off the feet and just putting tights on ds#2, then the pj's. Works perfect. I had to quickly learn that because he would even strip in Sunday School. More than once, they called me out to dress him. He would still rather have no clothes on has to having clothes on. He still wears his coveralls - backwards.

Sometimes you just want to tie them up. Yes I'm j/k... maybe. That little one of yours is just a little devil, although cute as the dickens. When they tag team you....watch out! I'm hoping they are driving you up the wall now & will be little angels in their teen years.
Hoping they go to sleep early and you have a lovely carefree evening. I send you the biggest mom to mom hug and wishes for a better tomorrow.

You are sure being put through the wringer again today by your kids. I've been in your shoes too and I also spent lots of time in tears and in prayer. Here are a few things that I did when mine pulled these kinds of stunts:
1. I took away all the toys that had been dumped out but not cleaned up. Yep! Bagged them all up and put them where the boys could not get them. They had to earn them back one by one.
2. I ran a yardstick down the pulls of the dresser so that the twins could not open the drawers when they were Hannah's age.
If I didn't do that, they would have everything all over the place.
3. I put child locks on all the cabinets that I did not want the kids to get into. Saved me tons of heartache and headaches.
4. Not everyone will agree with me on this, but I do believe that a spanking is called for when there is willful disobediance. Eric is certainly old enough to know what he is doing is wrong. Never spank in anger though. Make sure that you are calm and tell the child why they are getting a spanking. Worked for my kids.

No beatings, just got my point across. When they got older we stopped spanking & taking away privilages was what got their attention.

Darlene,
Same here, as they got older, grounding and losing privileges worked really well, still does.

I will remember the idea about the yardstick in the handles of the drawers. I have a feeling my Madison will be doing that soon.
I hope you are feeling better mrsengeseth. I know I find it hard when I clean up the whole house only to find it a DISASTER ten minutes later. DH comes home and I swear to him that I cleaned up the whole house but our daughter just follows up after me tearing things apart.

Melissa, I sure hope today is a better day for you! Debbie had some great ideas that I will keep in mind myself. I hope some of them work for you!

Oh, Melissa, I don't know what to say. I have a feeling my day is coming though.
