Go get him girl! I recently heard something to the effect of "Why are you doing laundry NNNNOOOOOWWW?" I believe he wanted to shower. My answer "Because I let the little fairies that usually do it have the week off" fool!

i heard a joke to a similar affect.
one day this husband came home, when he opened the door, he was immeaditly subjected to a huge mess, toys everywhere, clothes on the floor and spilled drink, then he walks in to the kitchen, dishes pilled up, nothing cooked, and crumbs everywhere, calling out to his wife, he found out she was in the bedroom. he passed the bathroom on the way, towels dirty clothe you name it, upon reaching the bedroom, he found his wife in bed with a book.
"what happened to this place"
to which the wife replied" you know how you always ask what i did all day? Well today i didnt do it!"

not quite told properlly but you get the drift.

If you are working full-time too, then hubby should share the housework, 50/50. It's just unfair otherwise. Even my chauvinist pig of a hubby agrees with that.

If it makes you feel any better...my dh is exactly the same way. I went on strike once..and it didn't bother him one bit! I, on the otherhand, about went nuts.

Then I remembered he was a slob when I met him. His place was a catastrophe. I guess I should have seen the warning signs...or at least run the other way LOL!

Oh welll....I've just learned to "deal with it" I spose. I always tell him he better hold on to the few looks he has left...it's just casue he's still a little-bit cute that I tolerate him LOL! Well..that and a couple/three other good qualities I need to chime to myself (VERY OUT LOUD!) now and again lol!

Sheesh!

Wink

Hi
I just joined and happened to find this thread and just can't resist the opportunity to put in my .02!
My hubby was in an accident 3 years ago and hasn't worked since! I work full-time military and go to school part-time. We have an 11 and 12 yr old, who do karate, hockey, etc. The last couple of months have been rough, with him having back surgery just 3 weeks ago. Now mind you, on top of everything else, I do housework and (ack!) have learned to cook! Would you believe this past week-end he made comments about how the house looks??? I told him "if you don't like it, do it yourself!" Of course he can't til he gets better but the point is, the house is freakin' clean! Now granted, I don't do windows or ceiling fan blades very often, but darn, I'm not embarrassed to have company! Men! What a bunch 'o turds! It's like he doesn't realize my plate is full and feels he needs to add more and frustrate me!!! GRRRR
Okay.
I feel better. Thanks for listening!

When we both worked full time, we had a cleaner who came once a week and we shared the rest (laundry, cat box, etc.). I sure miss that part of two good incomes! Now, we work it this way: DH brings in about 85 % of the money, so he does 15% of the housework. I bring in about 15% of the money and do 85% of the work. Does this make sense?

For all of you who have young daughters out there, there is hope for the next generation! I am teaching both of my sons to cook and clean! Yep, ladies, you heard me right! They can already make sandwiches, run the microwave and get their own cereal (I know, it's not much, but it's a start) and they both can dust, sort laundry, fold it and put it away. I also refuse to add to the grown up man who becomes a four year old when he's sick routine. When my two are ill, I get the medicine they need and care for them, but I do NOT coddle them. God forbid I ruin them for a future daughter-in-law!

Why do we get married???? My DH complains that the house is not CLEAN, just PICKED UP. Well honey, all I do is pick up after you, there is no time left to clean! That shut him up.

For example, we went out to dinner on Saturday night. He picked through 5 shirts and 2 pairs of shorts before he finally settled on an outfit. He left those clothes on our bed. I put them on the floor for him to hang up and put away. They are still there. I AM NOT PICKING UP THESE CLOTHES IF IT KILLS ME! He knows I am the martyr and will just do it anyway. He has piles of magazines, softball stuff, etc all over the house, but I don't clean. He agreed he has some stuff to put away! UGH! MEN!

well lori don't worry i'll wait cleaning men are hard to come by!

but seriously how do you get them to clean i have a 4 and 2 year old boys and cleaning to them is licking their bowl clean when they have ice cream.my dh does help sometimes if i "NAG" him enough.

kimmo i have tried the strike thing for 2 days and then my mil showed up,boy was that funny.she asked what happened here and i said i am on strike.the she gave me the lecture about cleaning and a wifes job,so i told her if she had a problem with the mess she could clean it.and i also told her "m" stands for mom not maid lol. that shut her up now when she comes she doesn't say a word to me about the mess only to dh about helping me out more

My boys have to earn TV and computer time. If they haven't cleaned, they don't get the time. They also have allowance tied to their chores. No chores=no allowance. Do they whine? Sometimes. Sometimes, everything is done quickly ad efficiently. Sometimes, I clean with a garbage bag (everything that's not a library book gets thrown out). they really scurry to get things done then!
