need potty training help
Josie is 2 !/2--BUT 34LBS! She has been here for a few weeks now and I have been trying to work on training. She will have nothing to do with it. She screamed at the idea of the toilet, so I bought a potty, she won't go near it. I tried getting her to watch the bigger girls, she screams, runs away. She tells me when she has bm in diaper but not wet. She won't start going in potty at school either. I am at my wits end. This kid won't even consider it and at her size I'm having a hard time getting diapers to fit properly. She starts getting upset when she hears me telling the other girls to go potty. HELP! I need ideas. -----Kellie

Oh wow Kellie, I feel so bad for both of you.
Something must terrify her about the bathroom. I don't have any advice, just
and wishing you both lots of luck.

I'm a firm believer when kids are ready to be trained, it takes no time to train them. At 2 1/2 there isn't a hurry to train her unless she wants too. its even more important not to push the issue when children are in care and have gone through so much in their little lives.
Goodnights work really well and you can get them in larger sizes. You can also get coupons from their website which is www.goodnights.com if you pm and explain the that your a foster parent. They are wonderful at sending them out.

I agree completely with letting them be ready. We're "in training" right now and Jason turned three in July. It's been three grueling months and there are still many accidents. He's in pull ups (or similar) at 32 pounds. The 3T-4T size is for 32 pounds and up. They go for around $9.99 for a package of 40. Lots of $1.50 - $2.50 coupons for the Feel and Learn brand.
We also went to Target and let him pick out big boy underwear. He has batman and spiderman super heros to help him get to the potty on time. Which sometimes he will, only to have trouble getting his pants down, poor kid! Perhaps Josie would like to have big girl underwear that is just like the other girls or with Disney princesses on them ( that was Amy's incentive - you just DON'T pee on Belle, you just DON't). If all else fails, you could always whip out the m&ms.
Good luck and may the Lord bless you with much patience and pee pee to your potty
