Spotting and/or Braxton Hicks Contractions
Okey, whose had them?
My cousin told me as a first time mom that if everything worried me like it did her, I would either be on the phone with the Dr. or at the office A LOT making sure all was well.
Anyway's she was right. I woke up Saturday bleeding and screamed at Joe to get the dog in that he had to take me to ER. You would have thought it was worse than it was. I knew it was common for women to spot but it's still scary and I wasn't taking any chances. I didn't have any pain except a few dull twinges every now and then. They asked where and I told them.
They ER doc examed me and said that the bleeding seemed to be almost stopped and that he thought, with my being a little over 4 months, that the dull pains were Braxton Hicks contractions.
He seemed to think baby and I were going to be fine. He said he wasn't as concerned as he would have been if Joe had brought me in there doubled over in pain.
He did all the exams and work ups for a threatened miscarriage and after the nurse came in to try and get a fetal heart reading (she did at 150) he gave us a clean bill of health (for now) and my release papers.
Anyway, who had these nice little symptons? How often did they come back?
We've already decided that for the heart attacks Joe and I suffered on her behalf she will be grounded as soon as she enters this world in Feb.

I had the Braxton hicks contractions and because I had really strong stomach muscles and etc. (from working out) the contractions felt like my insides were coming out. It took me quite a while to get used to them and they REALLY scared me at first. So if you feel anything like that try not to worry too much!!

Kat,
I had pinpoint spotting and was ordered to go to bed for a few days just to make sure that the pregnancy "held". Please make sure that you take it easy and no heavy lifting!!! You do not want to strain those tummy muscles.

I had "old blood" spotting. Braxton hicks are normal. With dd I didn't even notice them much. In fact when I went in to deliver her, I didn't even notice the real contractions until they got pretty strong. (My water broke so I had to go in)

I didn't have any problems with my boys, but being pregnant with that girl was the worst 8 months of my life! (she came 3 weeks early) I had spotting, almost like a mini meses, the 4th 5th and 6th month. The Braxton Hicks were frequent and uncomfortable. I just wanted to
the entire time.
But, you know what? That little angel has been such a blessing! As soon as she was born, everything was all better. At least that part was easy!

I'm glad everything is OK! It really is scary.

Kat, you did the right thing in having that checked out. I'll tell you all the gory details of my bleeding- turned UTI- turned emergency c-section someday, but not until after you've had your baby!
At any rate, a little spotting IS normal, but it's also scarey. I'm glad you both checked out ok!

Yeah Kat I had all that too. I had a bad UTI infection as well. You wanna keep a close eye for those as they can cause this.
First pregnancies are scarey for everyone....noone knows quite what to expect. I'd have done the very same thing that you did........
