    Default things for babies...

let's list some items for babies that you've seen or purchased that you never used or thought well this isn't something practical.

I absolutely wanted a diaper genie when I had Zachary. I used it a few times, but never liked it.

I also never purchased a changing table.

Same with the diaper genie. it was difficult to use and the "slicer thing" jumped tracks all the time.

I was given a changing table/baby bath thing that we use all the time.

Those play mats were worthless with Hannah, she was bored with them or maybe the colors over stimulated her (although we had one that was just red, black, white and one was all colors)But anyhow whatever the reason, she hated them.

Johnny jump ups were awful too. Neither of them liked the thing (the thing you hang in a doorway....)

Swings and highchairs were awesome, they both loved theirs. And those vibrating baby seats too.

Like crazy I want/ed one of those water mats...water filled vinyl mats with floating toys in it...

I wanted Bjorn carrier....that was the only thing I asked for at my showers...I got one! I was going to carry ds everywhere, oh yeah was going to do everything with him right there on my chest... I used it once.... I hated it!

I like my diaper genie...now... about 2 months ago I finally figured out that I had been using it wrong...now that I know how it works....its great...lol....

I've seen those Moses carry baskets...I never thought those would be very handy. I just couldn't see me using one anyway.

Other things I'm glad I had: My boppy, changing table, bassinet, swing, and a convertible car seat (it was so easy not having to wake him up when I went anywhere).

we used the diaper genie for ds but not dd. we lived with my folks when we had ds and it kept the cat out of the diapers. we didn't go wild with baby stuff since we never really had much room. and most of what he had for ds was used for dd. dd didn't like teh exersaucer but ds loved it. dd would rather crawl onto the bottom part adn spin around than actually stand in it and play with the toys, but ds loved it.
both of them liked the swing.
never got a boppy, just used a pillow for nursing and just let the kids play on a soft blakent ontop of the carpeted floor when they were learning to sit up.

Things I never had and never missed:

    Changing table
    high chair
    play pen

Things I got and was suprised at how much I used them:

swing- life saver at times, especially by baby number 3
front pouch carrier-- again, life saver by baby number 3- it left my hands free for babies 1 and 2!
diaper duck-- I only used cloth diapers and this made rinsing them so much easier, even dh didn't mind it much.

Walker - ds loved his exersaucer, but wouldn't even go in his walker.

Carrier - ours adjusted from sling to front carrier...I hated it - too hard on my back. Dh didn't care for it either.

Bouncy seat - I used this only to take showers when ds was very small...kept him secure in the bathroom with me while I was showering, but otherwise he didn't like it - totally hated the vibration too!

    Loved:
    Swing
    Exersaucer
Baby Einstein videos/dvds (still use them)
    Boppy

Lets see..Ryan is now almost 4 1/2 months old and it is truly amazing how much stuff he has gone through..lol..

He LOVES his Fisher Price Aquarium swing.
also his bouncy seat, both of which he has almost outgrown. There really isnt anything he hates. He would much rather me carry his big ole butt around all day..lol..didnt have great luck with a carrier, once again he weighs almost 20 lbs already!!!

Love my changing table, I have it downstairs and keep all of his stuff in it (diapers, wipes, towels, recieving blankets lotion, ect..I got it curbside shopping and I cant believ how much I use it especially since Makayla It never occured to me to have one on my 1st floor!

I never had a interest in a diaper genie, but I do buy the baggies that smell good and just throw them in the reg trash.

ok my book is finished now..

with 3 kids, i never once used a changing table. i never had a diaper genie, just threw diapers in the trash. (i know bad) i loved the front carrier with madison, but the boys were just way too heavy. loved the stroller, swings, and bouncy seats. i really liked the way mason and morgan's carseat went right from stroller to the car/vice versa!! (very convenient!) i love the pack and play too, although i don't use it much for morgan. i do use it for my nephew though! i haven't decided if i like the leash thingys for kids (harness), but i never did use one.....ALTHOUGH, sometimes i wish i would've!!
there are so many neat baby gadgets out now that weren't around when madison was a baby (only 6 yrs ago).

Let's see things I have bought in the past and hated!!

Diaper genie (what a waste of money)
Too many clothing that consisted of 0-3 months (he outgrew them faster than he could wear them)
avent bottles (my son suffered from acid reflux and these just made it worse)
Swing (it was good for the first few months but now it just takes up space)
Walker (never used, never understood why anyone would want to put their baby in something that made them mobile.... that just spells trouble )

    Things I couldn't live without:

    Stroller
    exersaucer
bassinet / play yard (I got the kolkraft traveling tot and it was the best, he slept in the bassinet part for the first 5 months)
jeep bouncer / rocker (best bouncer ever, vibrates rocks and hold ups to 40 pounds)
dr browns bottles (these are truely the best out there)
Boppy pillow (this save my arms from being very sore, along with my back, it also taught zach how to sit up on his own really fast)
Sling (never used one with my first 2 but boy did it come in handy when zach was born and I still needed to tend to the others)
