Ds# is getting glasses
for his "wanna be" lazy eye. The doc said he didn't see as well out of one eye as the other. When he's tired, or daydreaming the worse eye drifts off. We go back in 3 months for a recheck and probable blocking of the good eye. The doc didn't seem to think it was to big of a problem and that it would be easily corrected. Getting him to wear the glasses will be a challenge though.

As Melody can tell you, DH has a lazy eye. It doesn't affect his sight so he never had it fixed. in fact he has better sight from that one than from his "straight one". He does however need glasses for close up reading, although he never wears them. I think if it affected his sight he'd get the eye surgury.

In the last 3 weeks all 4 of my kids got glasses! My son has a lazy eye. The therapy thing never helped at all. Everyone in my house wears glasses but me!
Zach went along time without glasses and he did just fine. But the other eye went bad thats why he has to wear them now.

Aimee got a forcep in her eye at birth - they began patching it straight away and giving her an rx for a blurry lens on the good eye so she would use the bad one. Finally they gave her contacts at 8 yrs old cuz the difference between the two eyes gave her headaches. They are looking at giving her lasik at 13. The biggest problem I had with Aimee was she would constantly "look over" her glasses or remove her patch when she was alone. If you can stay all over your little one you may have better luck. They talk about using lasik alot earlier now for lazy eyes so they do not develop learning problems and headaches. You might want to stay informed from a medical standpoint as this could greatly alter our children's lives!!!
Good luck and best wishes with his glasses!! Ps if you can train him now to care for his glasses you will have better luck with contacts at an earlier age.
