On Wednesday my kids all went to the local high school to take their PSAT. I dropped them off early since I needed to get back for work and they ended up playing basketball along with another homeschooled friend who was also taking the test that day as a team against some kids from the school's basketball team. Apparently the team my kids were on whoopped the other team royally in the game. Well, another friend that goes to school there came home and told my boys that it was all over the school how "cool" they were and that everyone wanted them to come back to public school and play on the basketball team. We all had to laugh because Basketball is the big "thing" around here and from the time we moved in when the twins were still in diapers everyone has been on us to have them play basketball for the school. The former coach is our neighbor and he's been watching them for years and asking them to play for him (we said no due to his temper and the language he uses with his family and his team). I'm not thrilled with the new coach either, so they won't be playing for the school in basketball. However, the twins will be playing baseball for the school this Spring and the baseball coach is thrilled!
So I guess the secret to being "cool" is being a good basketball player! Who Knew?????
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." ~Leo Buscaglia
The kids say "Thanks!" to their Aunty Darlene and Debbie They just told me the basketball coach was there watching them play too!!! You want to hear a funny???? I actually taught the basketball coach when he was in high school.
