Default parenting dilemma - unsure whats going on

I just had to go get Damon from school - coughing & a fever. This morning he was coughing about so I gave him some cough syrup and sent him on the bus.

Here's my boggle - everytime they go to Bob's (daddy's) they come home sick - he is always sick. I have them take vitamins and extra c and wash their hands all the time so I don't understand why everyother weekend is enough time for them to get sick. Its become a little joke with me and aimee - be sure you take extra c and wash a bunch this weekend!! She doesn't get sick even half as much as the boys do from over there. They don't get sick when we have a prolonged period away from him either. The other thing is they come home on sunday nights exhausted, dirty (no baths - still in the same outfit they left in on Friday night) and having not had anything to eat since lunch at 1:00. I am kindof thinking this is why they are getting sick. When I try to talk to Bob about it he says its crap and nonsence and that they do it and they are just faking. But I swear - I know my kids and Aimee doesn't lie about things. I have asked him repeatedly to at least bathe them for school and feed them dinner on Sunday or let me have them before 7:30 at night! He always says he will . I don't want to keep having problems withhim but I don't know how to protect the kids - At least I have gotten smart enough to have some dinner ready for them when we bring them home. But what could I do about them getting sick alll the time?? I even bought ob a bottle of Vit C once for them  but the kids say they don't take it over there.

    Does bob have animals?
I'm thinking allergies might bring down the kids immune system.

(I used to get sick after visiting friends with cats...etc..
Would be more prone to colds, coughs, sneezing etc.)

I doubt you'll like what I'm about to say but it's a tough job to shut me up, so here goes.

I think they are getting sick because they aren't getting enough sleep. If you are giving them an adequate diet and they have vitamins, there is no way they could get sick, repeatedly, in just two days while he has them.

If you have tried to get Bob to act responsibly towards his children and he refuses to do so, and if his children are getting sick and suffering because of his lack of responsibility, then stop them going to his house for the weekend. Allow them to go for a day visit only or have him visit them at your home.

Sleep is very important for a strong immune system and so is the proper nourishment. Mom was always right when she told us kids...you are what you eat and get at least 8 hours of sleep a night. You kids are growing and your body needs the rest and good food.

Its great that they are taking the vitamin C and a vitamin supplement Here is something else you may be interested in kimmie? I always have it in the home. The kids take the tablets and dH and I use the liquid. The kids will not touch the bitter liquid, LOL

Grapefruit seed extract has been demonstrated to be effective against 800 different types of viruses, bacteria, yeast and fungi. Grapefruit seed extract is a powerful weapon in disease prevention and treatment. The versatile extract consists of oils obtained when grapefruit seeds and membranes are ground up and combined with carrier substance such as glycerin and distilled water.

The therapeutic effects of the grapefruit seed extract works both externally and internally against the viruses, yeast, bacteria and fungi by actually killing the killing germs. At the same time, grapefruit seed extract stimulates the immune system and works like an antibiotic drug without destroying the helpful bacteria that are normally present. The components of the grapefruit seed extract contains bioflavonoids, vitamin V and vitamin E. These work as antioxidants and makes grapefruit seed extract one of the most powerful natural antioxidants available.

It has been know to help with osteoporosis, herpes simplex virus, head lice and even used as a pesticide residue and a germicidal cleaner for the home.

Osteoporisis is a result of a porous bone stucture that has broken down in bone density, an attack on bones cells and cell membranes that can cause pain and ease of broken bones. The antioxidants in grapefruit seed help minimize bone loss by neutralzing free radicals.

Using an application of grapefruit seed extract solution, one part of the extract and nine parts water, dab on herpes virus, and within ten minutes the virus becomes inactive. Dab gently each day to affected area.

For head lice, mix two quaters shampoo and one quarter of the extract solution (20 drops to one cup of water) and throughly massage into hair and scalp. Then place a shower cap over the hair and allow the mixture to work for approcimately twenty minutes. Rinse the hair well and groom with a delousing comb. More than one application of this treatment may be necessary.

For a pesticide residue on fruits and vegetables, use a solution of the grapefruit extract and water and rub gently to fruits. It will remove any pesticides, microbes or bacteria that may be present on surfaces.

It is also a great germicidal cleaning solution for the home. Use a solution from ten drops of the extract to one quart of water and clean as normal. Besides ridding the house of germs, it also keeps it smelling clean and pure.

Hi everyone. I'm new here and was glad to read the dilution rate for the grapefruit seed extract for use as a disinfectant. I've had a bottle of extract for well over a year now but have never used it because I wasn't sure about the dilution rate.

I think it will make a good substitute for bleach on counters and bathroom surfaces. Thanks for the information and I look forward to reading more posts here!
