my son and the vampire
I'm so proud of my son. He's just gone over the the mobile blood bank that's in our town today and he's donating blood for the first time. I am so happy that he is carrying on this family tradition. My mother was given an award for the amount of blood she donated over the years. My DH and I are both blood donors. We have never preasured our sons into donating, they know we do it and the reasons we do. So when he told me he was going over there I was so proud I almost burst. He is a bit hesitant about needles so that makes it more special.
If I could type this in 20' high letters I would.

Good for him - it is such an important and loving gesture to donate blood!! I hope he realizes the special act he has done!

Bethany, thank him for me please, and you and hubby too.
I have a terrifying fear of needles. When I was receiving chemo or now have to go for bloodwork, I take a sedative about 1 hour before.
Not fun feeling that way.
But I can remember when my youngest brother needed platlettes, I wished I could have given them to him. We never knew when he was going to need them during his chemo treatments and being the stressful time that it was, being away from home in NYC, I invariably (sp) took a couple of apirins for a headache.
Only much later (after he passed) did I find out him and I were the same blood type, AB+.
So kudos to you and your family and everyone else that gives! People like me really appreciate it!
