    Talking bragging about my kiddos

two weeks ago Erick had his testing to see where we are at in the homeschooling program. His math was excellent and his phonics was great too, for what they wanted. (Can he recognise letters? Does he know the sounds they make?) They gave him another class (Technology) and said his deductive reasoning test went good too. He couldn't read or sound out simple three letter words, but that it was ok, because he was "on target" no big deal. Bright kid, next appointment for testing is on such and such a date.

Fast forward to today, he is sounding out words and trying to bring me everything he can to show me he's sounding out stuff. He's trying to read everythign and is doing very well! (With the exception of three words that are eluding him for whatever reason "the" "is" and "and" ) But he's reading short sentences "Sam and Jan are on the (after some tries) mat." "the fat cat ran to the mat" etc etc

    Yay!! I am so thrilled.

And DD for the first time voluntarily pee pee'd in the potty. I sat her there for a sec while i was getting toys out of the tub to drain and dry. she peed and it surprised me, i made a big hubub about it and i think i scared her in my enthusiasm. i got her a sticker for her forehead . then later she told me she wanted to go potty, and sure enough she did. A total of four successful times today! Woo hooo!

    Ok, my brag is over.

Good for you! Your kids are doing great! Could you have your dd call mine? We seem to have stalled in our potty training efforts. Oh well...

I found some flashcards online and printed them off, we made a game out of them. he sounds out the words, and the ones he gets right he gets to keep in a pile. the ones he gets wrong i keep in a pile. we used 20 cards and i had four at the end of the game.

WOOHOO Missy!! That is awesome. I always made a big deal out my kids going "pee pee in the potty" too.

I think Erick is doing awesome too!! That is a big accomplishment to read short sentences. WTG Erick!!!
